Obersee and Königssee Lake Germany are 2 beautiful picturesque lakes in the Berchtesgaden National Park. Join me as I take you on the Königssee boat trip to hike and explore the beautiful picturesque Königssee Lake Germany and Obersee Lake. The trip starts out from Berchtesgaden bus station to catch the bus 841 for the 15 minutes journey to Schoenau am Königssee. A 10 minute walk from the bus stop brings you to Königssee Lake where you buy the Königssee boat ride tickets. There are 2 boat stops on the route, which are St Bartholomä and Salet. There is also a stop for the world famous Königssee trompete where the boat captain blows a trumpet to demonstrate the world famous Königssee echo against the sheer rock face.
At Salet we explore Königssee and Obersee lakes whilst taking in some of the most stunning views in the Berchtesgaden National Park. It's then back to the first stop at St Bartholomä to explore the beautiful Königssee lake views and take a look inside St Batholomew's church.

Hi Paul, I was amazed by the beautiful colour of the water and how crystal clear it was. Beautiful to see the reflections in the water. The scenery was just like watching the Sound of Music. Everywhere was so green and vibrant. The little boat house was so quaint and cute. The setting was idyllic. This place looked like heaven on earth. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. Hi Christine, the cabin might not be very hermit friendly but this place was absolutely amazing. I don't think my video quite does it justice. I was thinking wow all day and the weather certainly helped. This was from the end of August last year and the temperature got up to about 35C that day. Hi Tracy, this place was absolutely amazing. I'd say it's the best place I have ever been for views. The only downside was too many people. This meant I lost a lot of time waiting for boats and in queues. It got to around 35C on this day so that beer went down a treat. The cows were pretty cool. That opening view is heavenly. 1909 pretty early to begin keeping the water clean. It does look beautiful and clean. Cool trumpet playing on the water. I dare say there is not a bad view on the lake Obersee. Stunning reflections and just enough clouds for interest in the blue sky. Pretty convenient location for the beer stop. Great explore in Berchtesgaden National Park. Cheers👍

This place was pretty amazing. It was probably the best day i have ever had for views and the weather sure helped with that. I'd love to go back to this part of Germany to explore a bit more as I felt I only barely scratched the surface. That's like walking around in a fairy tale mate. Or like The Brit Girls said, the Sound of Music. Especially with the cow bells! Not the most hermit-friendly but that's to be expected with scenery like that. Looked like you were throughly enjoying yourself. Perfect beer spot 🍻 St Barts Church was nice. Amazing place, and about as civilised and sophisticated as it gets!

Hi Matt, this place was absolutely amazing. I'd say one of the best days out I've ever had for views. Not sure I will beat that beer stop...err...hang on I have a video coming soon which may rival it 🙂 The only down side was the amount of people as I ended up losing lots of time waiting for boats and in queues. wasn't expecting a tuesday release! keeping us on our toes, eh, paul? glad you took this gorgeous trip. water was so clear and the mountains surrounding are breathtaking. that horn echo was cool! did you do a bit of shouting, or is that not allowed? i'm imagining a boat full of people yelling at the cliffs. 😂 i feel like you got off in salet and were, like, i gotta get away from them asap. 🤭 and then it was "packed." poor hermit. i wasn't expecting the dog, and i wanted to yell at the kids sitting in that narrow path. 😈luckily you find your spots. i love that cows are acceptable company for a hermit. that boat queue was really long! i'll admit i'm a bit on view overload after watching this. your brain must have been exploding with joy. cheers, paul! 🛴❤

Hi Anne, sorry for pulling a fast one. This one took a lot of editing and then took 18 hours just to upload. It was a fabulous day out despite the crowds. I'm not even sure the video does the place justice at all. I didn't know where to look for the best. I'd love to return one day to the region. The Königssee trumpet echo played for some minutes but I just put in a short exert. I think shouting would have been frowned upon 😂 Yeah I'm not a fan of crowds as you know and with all the queues I didn't get time to go see the waterfall. The cows were great and I have a video coming soon with more cows, funny ones at that. I'm so glad you enjoyed the captured views as they were amazing. This day will live long in the memory and I'm glad I now started vlogging. Thank you very much for watching. Have a great week 👍 Paul

I love the cowbells too. We just don't get that in the UK. I have some better cowbell footage from Austria coming up with one cow scratching its chin on a fence right in front of me! I also now use a wireless microphone with my GoPro, which helps kill the wind noise and hopefully has better audio quality.

@@TheHikingHermit yes, I finally broke down and bought the expensive RODE wireless go microphone. I don't always remember to use it, but I can tell a big difference in wind noise when I'm using it or not

@@MagentaOtterTravels I was a cheap skate and went with the Hollyland Lark M1 but you can have 2 microphones feeding into 1 receiver should I ever have the need. Hermits don't tend to need that facility 🤣

Paul, this pristine lake and majestic views are a lovely beginning and then that echo was just amazing to hear...Lovely boathouse, instagram famous but those reflections are what is so amazing...just exquisite...stopping for one is a must...I think even I would have with all that heat...and those cows...I love it! The second stop seemed like a quick one, unless you're saving it for another day, that church ceiling in pink was gorgeous...as was the rest...a splendid day indeed~thanks for taking me on another journey...

Hi Donna, this trip was from late August last year and was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The only down side was the number of people. I did lose a lot of time waiting for boats and in queues so didn't do everything I wanted. The cows were pretty cool and I have more very cool cows coming in a future video. The second stop at the church was indeed a quick stop as I was running out of time. I'd love to go back one day perhaps at a time when it's not quite as busy. That hotel of yours was very well situated for venturing out and exploring the area. That is quite the queue but to be expected for August! Cracking views on Königsee. Loving all these cracking summer colours, think you’ve put my mind to rest about filming today in the monochromatic snow, I’ll go to work instead! Colours are so much more pleasing to the eye. Cracking shots of the lake from the shore, any snap would make the ideal desktop photo! Wise choice on the waterfall! Love Alpine cow bells, beautiful sound. Why is it Alpine cows are way more placid than English ones? Yikes that return queue looked massive, well done for braving it!

The hotel was most ideal being just across the way from the bus and train station. The queue for the boats and in various spots was mental. It meant I lost a lot of time and couldn't get to see all I wanted tho I did see the main bits. I'd say this was the best day out I've ever had for views and I had some cracking days for that on this trip. I'm not sure about desktop photos but I was toying with the idea of opening an online shop selling coasters etc with some of my snaps on. I would have loved to go to the waterfall but with time being short something had to be dropped and unfortunately the waterfall got it. The alpine cows were cool and of course the cow bells. That queue back for the last boats was mental. I managed to join it before it got mega long tho I was waiting quite a while for the boat back! I'm glad you enjoyed the colourful views. Hi Paul This is amazing. All I was thinking the whole way through is "How do I get there? How do I get there? " The boat trip alone would have been enough for me, but then appeared some of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen!! Those mountains 😍, All my favourite colours of shades of blue & green intermingled in the lake, the boat house and other little lakeside structures on the return trip, the reflections, the echoes of the trumpet, but wow those cowbells were awsome, bringing thoughts of lazy summer days. Fabulous place to stop & chill for a while with a beer. Absolutely loved it. Well done , Now, how do I get my ticket ?😎

The boat house is on many a snap on Google and Instagram which is one of the things that attracted me for a trip to Berchtesgaden. I'd love to go back and explore this area a bit more some time. Hi Paul OMGoodness, you don't believe how many times I am watching this video and compose my comment since my comment gets a note, fail to send Again, the weather in on your side. Here comes, The Hermit travels with a boat 5:23 the view from the boat showcase the white-gray peaks, with no obstacles to be hidden by. The color of the water is like FL spring. Remarkable fact, the trampet echoing made pretty harmony with original and echo in the atmosphere of the cliff and the audience 3:53 haha Why PPL want to take picture with the first boat house?? 9:31 Especially, we had snowed laterly, this film is delightful to watch. Every angle from your hiking trail offers spectacular view. OMGoodness, I cannot imagine how frustrated you were 10:57 waiting on the single line Absolutely majestic 13:09 it is like one of expensive painting 15:21 This film totally Knock me out. It is paradise. I bet many photographers love to visit and take photos in a moment. I thank YOU. I cannot wait for more films to come

Hi Ms Kayak, well I could do with the watch hours, I'm very close now, so watch as many times as you like 😂 The weather on this day and well all the time I was in Germany was awesome. I enjoyed the boat trip and got chatting to 3 lovely German people from Berlin. I now wish I had swapped details. The trumpet echo went on for some minutes but I cut it short so the video didn't get any longer than it already was. The first boat house is seen on many a photo on Google and Instagram but personally I thought the second boat house was much better. However I'm betting a lot of people never saw the second boat house as I find most people are lazy. And yeah the line was basically you had to go as quick as the slowest person. I'd be up and over that in no time! It was what it was and I used the time to take photos etc. It was the second boat house at 13:09 I used for the video thumbnail. I took quite a few photos of that too. There were some fabulous reflections on the lake on the way back. This day was the best views I have ever had on a trip out. It was like wow, wow and more wow. YT still hates me tho 😂I'm glad you enjoyed the views I managed to capture from the day. My next video should be out tomorrow. It's a hike taking in one of the most photographed churches in Germany, a magic forest and a picturesque lake amongst other things. Have a great week 👍🙂Paul

The lakes and mountains on this trip were immense. I really didn't know where to look or point my camera for the best at times. And yeah I film with a GoPro 11 at 4k and 60fps so should always look better on the big screen as I think it defaults to the best resolution. Thank you very much for watching. 🙂👍Paul

Hi Ruby Ann, this was late August and it was a very hot day. I'm not sure how cold the water was tho as I didn't take a dip. I expect it would be cold but not too cold. There were plenty in the water especially at Obersee Lake. I'd say my visit to Konigssee Lake was one of best days I've ever had. I hope you get the weather on your side for your visit and have a fabulous day there 🙂Paul

Yeah this certainly wasn't hermit friendly. The queues and waiting for boats lost me a lot of time. I do hope tor return to the area one day and explore some more. Then again there are so many other places that I have not visited.

Hi Dara, I use a Hollyland Lark M1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone or have been doing of late. This video was using that microphone throughout, well except for the odd bit of narration 🙂Paul
