Her blue flame represents lack of control, when she has no control over her flames it's blue. Cause blue flames are hotter than red. When she goes red flame, meaning she has full control over it. When she first lights her hand up, it's to represent she can only control a little part of the blue flame at the end she goes full blue. Meaning she finally has full control of the blue flames. Her blue flames comes out when she gets emotional early in life. When she finally kisses Hellboy and goes blue, means she was really into him.

in the second movie, she was pregnant and had to hold back a little. I know what you all are thinking but she might have a miscarriage and she does not want it. that's why she limited herself from the action. and using her powers put some toll on her body.

Hellboy 1: Terrified of her powers because every time ends in disaster until she finally uses them with confidence & purpose Hellboy 2: Has full control over her powers, and yet she doesn't seem to use them in a useful manner most of the time

Hellboy 2 doesn't really indicate that she has full control over her powers. If anything, the scene where she wipes out the faeries indicates that she still has issues controlling her strength. That's why she asks Hellboy to stay away from the windows. She certainly seems to have more control, but mastery is not the way I'd describe.

Also appreciate that they tried 2 use practical effects whereever possible,even if CGI was availabe. Shows some TLC on the makers' part on how they approach their craft.

I'm here after browsing thru her new autobiography ("Mean Baby") at our local Barnes & Noble yesterday. I had of course heard of "Hellboy" but actually have seen the whole flick. But I've been a Selma Blair fan from WAY back. Talented, beautiful and now she's an incredible inspiration to so many ! Bless her heart.....

Its cause when she had nearly no control over her fire it burned blue, now that she has complete control she can dial the temperature of her flames down. Id also venture to guess that using a high yield flame(blue) takes up A LOT more energy.

Wow blue flames😲 Blue is hotter flame than red flame, red is lowest temperature color of fire, while the blue is 3rd is highest temperature color of fire😊 I think it base at the order of following temperature color of rainbow, the colors of rainbow was "ROYGBIV" 'it means Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet😊 the lowest was Red while the highest was Violet, speaking of violet "that's why we have UV it means Ultraviolet, it means also Violet was really the hottest temperature color of fire😊 am I right😊?

Well in tv,& movies there's gifted elemental benders. & Liz has the blue flame, just lyk Princess Azula from the Fire Nation in "Avatar: The Last Air Bender". She didn't burn her clothes either..but when i saw their flame color was a like, just Liz's flame isn't blue all the time....I was hoping they'd show Liz bending lightning...but they didn't...possibly won't in the 3rd movie either...maybe they just want'er 2 stay Pyro..
