It is crazy that just 5 years prior to your video, this mall was nearly full. The Frankie and Johnny intro is an awesome way to start a video. Another mall you could do is The Esplande, that place is really hurting.

Memories.... I practically grew up in that mall. There used to be a movie theatre across the parking lot so Friday nights half of the middle school kids would be there to get dinner in the food court, play in the arcade, hit up Claire’s, and that famous but now extinct music and video store to get the latest cassette tape and poster, then go see a movie. Those were the days.

IKR? I visited that place as a little kid in the early 90s. It would be so much easier for me to make peace with it closing down, if only I could have visited it one last time in recent years. I think the last time I saw it was in 1992 and that was it. I remember how much I loved the toy store, the food court (which had some nice mosaic tile artwork on the walls) and the nearby arcade. If only today's kids could have the same memories I had of it.

Very sad, I live 5 minutes away. My son is 30 now, he grew up in this mall, he was always there. It was very busy at one time, during the month of December, you couldn't find one spot in that huge parking lot. Traffic would back up at the Airport Rd exit for miles from people trying to get there, those days are gone now, just memories.

Brock Audibert very sad times, but it’s kinda what the people wanted. Amazon and the internet came about and then people got lazy/ busy so it saves plenty of time just purchasing online. That’s pretty sad though that millions of jobs will be replaced by computers and robots.

This is the most depressing, but wonderful mall that I’ve ever seen. I really hate it that our malls that were childhood gems for us are dying due to the internet and crime. If I could turn back the hands of time, I could revisit the shopping malls and have fun as long as I can. I really hate it that the current generation won’t experience the joys at the mall.

I also grew up in this mall, lived in Huntwyck. It was opened soon after we moved to Slidell in 83. There were very few places to go in the 80s and 90s. It is a bummer to see it run down. I still want to cry when I pass by the old Maison and DH Holmes. It was ridiculous when they bought the others, and turned two stoors into Dillard's. Does anyone else remember the scandal when kids were caught photocopying dollar bills, and redeemed them for coins in the arcade? Memories... Everyone has a different opinion as to what caused this mall to close. I did visit that Fremaux mall. Better, I do not think so... Oh, I can't believe you didn't pick the commercial of her running down the aisle of the store, yelling "I got the 50 dollas."

I’m from the Northshore and I spent many days of my childhood in the 90s with my parents in this mall. It was absolutely the place to be back in the day. That arcade was called Pocket Change! Before it was a GameStop, they had a Babbage’s. The food court had everything, including that Dante’s Pizza and a Chic Fil A y’all strolled by. They also had a killer ice cream place. I think it was called Swanson’s. I went back in about 3 years ago before it closed and I couldn’t believe how gone it was. I had to have a seat and reflect on the good old days of childhood walking up and down the concourses.

Sad to see the place go. It's been almost 20 years but I definitely remember that arcade @ 13:14 way back in the day as a child in the 90s. Had fun there many a weekend. It had two entrances & it looks like you guys went in through the side entrance that lead right to the big cafeteria. Apart from the entrance the only thing left recognizable is that glass counter desk space mentioned in the video where the Arcade clerks were with all of the prizes you could win if you earned enough tickets/tokens.

I haven't been there since December 2016. Even then it was dying, though at least it had some places still. JCPenney, Burlington, Chick-Fil-A, Auntie Anne's, FYE. Not a lot, but I liked JCPenney, and I liked eating ^_^ Even then most of the good stores had left though, like all the good clothing stores. And Claire's. Losing Claire's was like the ultimate sign of death =P Now all that's left that I'd want to go to is rummaging through Dillard's Clearance, except that was more fun when it wasn't the ONLY thing to do at the mall =P Online shopping is a part of it, but not the only thing. Like the newer Fremaux shopping center seems to be doing all right. I'm not entirely sure why. I like the comfort of an indoor mall myself. The unknown store, after looking it up, was apparently Hibbett Sports, some shoe store. I have no memory of going there.

Honestly dude if you dont know the real reason the mall closed then don't make a video about it, the only reason the mall closed because a new and better mall opened up in the most populated part of slidell and basically in the center of slidell. Its more convenient to most people in slidell. The top stores such as Dillards moved else where to make more profit, and the Clearance Dilliards is beating out the Dilliards in the other mall 2:1. They are also trying to bring that mall back with a Golden Coral and Canes Chicken.
