Hoarding disorder is a persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions because of a perceived need to save them. A person with hoarding disorder experiences distress at the thought of getting rid of the items. Excessive accumulation of items, regardless of actual value, occurs.
Hoarding often creates such cramped living conditions that homes may be filled to capacity, with only narrow pathways winding through stacks of clutter. Countertops, sinks, stoves, desks, stairways and virtually all other surfaces are usually piled with stuff. And when there's no more room inside, the clutter may spread to the garage, vehicles, yard and other storage facilities.
Hoarding ranges from mild to severe. In some cases, hoarding may not have much impact on your life, while in other cases it seriously affects your functioning on a daily basis.
Getting and saving an excessive number of items, gradual buildup of clutter in living spaces and difficulty discarding things are usually the first signs and symptoms of hoarding disorder, which often surfaces during the teenage to early adult years.
As the person grows older, he or she typically starts acquiring things for which there is no immediate need or space. By middle age, symptoms are often severe and may be harder to treat.
*Disorganized piles or stacks of items, such as newspapers, clothes, paperwork, books or sentimental items
*Possessions that crowd and clutter your walking spaces and living areas and make the space unusable for the intended purpose, such as not being able to cook in the kitchen or use the bathroom to bathe
*Buildup of food or trash to unusually excessive, unsanitary levels
Significant distress or problems functioning or keeping yourself and others safe in your home
*Conflict with others who try to reduce or remove clutter from your home
*Difficulty organizing items, sometimes losing important items in the clutter
People with hoarding disorder typically save items because:
*They believe these items are unique or will be needed at some point in the future
*The items have important emotional significance - serving as a reminder of happier times or representing beloved people or pets
*They feel safer when surrounded by the things they save
*They don't want to waste anything
Hoarding disorder is different from collecting. People who have collections, such as stamps or model cars, deliberately search out specific items, categorize them and carefully display their collections. Although collections can be large, they aren't usually cluttered and they don't cause the distress and impairments that are part of hoarding disorder.
It's not clear what causes hoarding disorder. Genetics, brain functioning and stressful life events are being studied as possible causes.
Hoarding usually starts around ages 11 to 15, and it tends to get worse with age. Hoarding is more common in older adults than in younger adults.

I'm still traveling around the USA in my 25 foot class A Winnebago Warrior motorhome with my little dog Tinkerbell making videos for my channel. There was a lot of stuff left there..looks like someone just left in a hurry.

Not yet. I left Walla Walla Washington about 6 months ago and I have traveled almost 7000 miles through 6 states. I'm limited right now on how far I can go. My motorhome only gets 7 to 10 miles a gallon. As it is now I'm spending at least 500.00 a month on gas. I get less then 1000.00 a month. So my travels have been just these 7 states Washington State, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, California and Arizona. And I have stayed where it's not snowing and super cold this winter. I promised my sister I'd stay with her by Seattle next winter. So I can't go that way yet. Then my daughter is getting Married in June of 2020. Then after that I will be really getting out and going farther away across the country. I hope to make it to Florida someday! I just pretty much drive and find places to video. No real plans yet.

Looks like an elderly person may have passed and family took what they wanted leaving the rest behind. Doesn't look like a hoarder house at all. Might take things a little slower with less back and forth of the camera...after all...we viewers are supposed to be exploring with you so give us a chance to take it all in!

Debra Dorsey I'm not sure about the previous owner. Imagine how much stuff was probably in the moble home before the family took what they wanted. I thought it was still a interesting place. I'm new to exploring and I appreciate any criticism. When I go on a property I usually try to get out of there asap. You never know who will show up. You are right you are supposed to be there exploring with me. I'll keep that in mind next Abandoned place I find. Thanks for watching and sharing the helpful advice.

There is a very strange detail on the front of the Royal Chef wall oven: looks like on tiles inset into the top of the oven front next to the clock/controls, there is an Inca calendar image printed on each one. I've never seen such a weird design on a kitchen appliance! There is a cup in the cupboard with the name Evelyn on it; perhaps that was the lady's given name. At least someone apparently also cared about her enough to send a "favorite aunt" birthday card. This is a sad but interesting house...guess that could be said of most all abandoned homes.

There is something unfair about this - an intrusion and mockery of the life of a (likely) deceased person who lived a normal life and probably never hurt anyone. Living on a modest retirement income in a trailer park somewhere, in Nowhere, USA. Nothing is hoarded...just useless, valueless stuff--acquired cheaply to fill space. Hopefully, the "Aunt" (as per the card) was loved by someone on this planet.
