Күн бұрын

The first part in a series of videos exploring Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA. There are so many fascinating stories here that one video couldn't hold them all. There are movie stars, athletes, pioneers, a suffragist, and even a serial killer.

Excellent work my friend! Your research is outstanding and I love how you bring these people and their stories back to life. It's nice to know there are others that recognize people who were worthwhile and help change things for the better like Severance. The I voted stickers are a strong testament to her reform work. I have always seen the name Freemont in some places out west and never knew why. It's interesting how Mr. Freemont's freeing of slaves was not well accepted by the union. My favorite character of this episode was Goodfellow. It's sad that he has no specific spot and yet was a indirectly a part of one of West's biggest shootouts. He certainly was intelligent and seemed to have many interests in paving his own path while making a difference. Thank you for your research and time that went into making this episode. I really enjoyed it.

These shows are so well produced and researched. It is truly fascinating to look at what has come before us. So much of this is not taught in our schools. Why is that? The old quote that says "those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it" is an apt description. People don't remember that there was a time when the only people who voted were white men. No blacks, no Indians, no women could vote. I think history, all the way back to the beginning, is something that should be given greater emphasis. It's all been done before us. We are not the first.

I'm a little late seeing this as I've only recently discovered your channel. I've wanted to visit this cemetery for some time after seeing it in the film Dead Ringer with Bette Davis. I live in L.A. now about 3 miles away so it's on my list. So many stories and people who made a small mark in history even if they didn't get into the history books. Strangely the most interesting story in this video is Abel Crawford. Your narration and old photos really add to the quality of your videos without all the extra frills and nonsense. So glad to have found your channel. Keep them coming.

Do you think you can do a video on Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina, CA? Beautiful place and some celebrities but lots of stories of the people buried there.

Many of the people who have buried here at Angelus Rosedale, don't have the funds to be interred and that's why they are in the Chapel of the Pines.Tony

Fascinating and beautiful. And may I say, you are a superb narrator: unlike so many young Americans, you have not adopted a strange, precious, slangy, vulgar or bizarre pseudo-accent, which is all-but-unlistenable.

ARC, one of my Top 5 favorite LA cemeteries. I'm only 15 minutes into this installment. Hoping that at least one of the five Medal Of Honor recipients who are buried here are included in the documentary.

@@graveexplorations Fantastic, can't wait. A quick note when referring to those that have the MOH.. They are Recipients of the Medal, not winners. The circumstances for which they earned the Medal came at great sacrifices, not a contest or fame to be won. I'm not bagging on you as this is a common misconception. While on the same subject id like to see you do a video blog on the MOHs in Los Angeles. There are roughly 50 in LA County; 14 at LANC, 5 at HFC, 5 at Odd Fellows, 6 at Calvary, 5 at Evergreen, 5 at ARC, 4 at FLG, 1 at FLHH, 1 at Woodlawn... And a couple more that I haven't visited yet. Or, if not exclusively them, military heroes. Like one of the Iwo Jima flag raisers at HFC. Just an idea..

@@terrymyers699 You're so right! Thank you for pointing it out. In fact, the MOH segment is already done. I will double check to make sure. I believe that I tend toward saying the medal was "awarded," or "earned." But sometimes, to avoid repetition it might've slipped in. But I will make sure to check the terminology. Once again, thank you!

Never knew Sears sold headstones. Your videos of this cemetery is why I became a patron. The citys detailed history, good and bad, personal life's of those you highlight, and the reverence in your voice makes this an excellent channel.

Realizing this is a 4 year old video, I’m wondering how any grave location, unmarked, could be unknown. The management of the cemetery must have a map, or other documentation. Otherwise, how would they know whether a particular unmarked spot was available for use or currently occupied?
