In this pilot episode of Explore New England, host Tom Richardson explores New Hampshire's largest and most popular lake as it wakes from its winter slumber. Activities include trolling for landlocked salmon, paddling to Stonedam Island, and nature-watching.

My grandfather , father and myself grew up on Lake Winnipesaukee... Guernsey Island....special memories...

Yo, this was awesome. I live by Squam Lake but I do like me some Winnipesaukee. Actually, I love every lake in NH & ME. You know what lakes recently rocked my world? Rangely and Umbagog. 😍 ~Sadie #goosebumps

I've spent many a day (and nights) on Stonedam Island. Kayaking from The Weirs were I lived for 30 years. Cross country skiing on the island in winter. Partying with the tourist in the summer. Lots of happy memories.

Free vacations in Wolfeboro New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee from 1968 to 1994. And Uncle purchased land known as Port Wedlen. We were the second house in after the model house. I was 8 in 1968 now I'm 92 and although it's been a long time I miss Lake Winnipesaukee to this day.

Too really enjoy the lake all ones needs is $10Million dollars for a lake front home with 150 feet of lake frontage.

The soundtrack is overwhelming the narration and the scenes. It should be accentuating in intervals.

Oh it does. We just let the massholes pay a majority of our taxes and spend a couple months here. They know they’re guests of ours

It all boils down to the dollar bill my friend unfortunately unless you have a local government that's hip to how to protect what is theirs.... Good luck on that one though

If the "guide" is going to do 90% of the fishing for you, why bother to go in the first place? He rigged and deployed all of his own gear, you didn't do anything but real in one of the six rods he pointed to. You didn't catch anything, he did. Reminds me of when I "went fishing" when I was five years old.
