Nice and informative. Only thing you miss to mention was when fishing in the Connecticut River is you need a fishing license either from Vermont or New Hampshire if fishing on the Connecticut River. Thanks

Nice video 🛶🦀 I know the area real well. My Ancestors were in Saybrook from the start 1634/35 . I'm a Chapman and grew up on South cove ,Mulberry Lane .I've canoed, boated and sailed in the area . Seldens creek was always a nice place to go and jump off the rocks ( granite) . Just south of it is a rock with the date 1834 on it. The Fishing was and still is great .I remember catching doormat fluke in the mouth of the Connecticut River. The blue crabs were huge and everywhere. Plus alot of Starfish ,which I don't see anymore !! 😔catfish in the coves and river !! I swear they have lungs 🤣 the Whole area is very special !! I've also walked the wood's and lived in Lyme for a while . I know the old roads going in coast. Granite foundations, where there was a holding building,it's like walking back nearly 400 years .Also I do alot of bike riding !!! Road and Mountain ,I biked about 70 miles last weak and ended up at Chapman Falls for a dip 🌞 and for all you camper's out here,I picked up a brand new vintage Eureka Timberline 4l from 2003, the 30th yrs anniversary at a thrift store at Crystal mall for 13 dollars !! Yep. They didn't know what it was because they never unwrap it ,just tore the end off and looked ... I had an idea it was quility ,till I got it home and Shazam !!! There it was !!! only thing the black elastics tie downs are beat from dry rot and age .I'm going to replace them. Id like to know ,if anyone knows of groups or an organization I could do work with or be apart of ? Thanks in advance 🌞

Burnt Mountain (trailhead off of Sugarloaf parking area) is a good and shorter day hike that provides amazing 360* views of the high peaks in the Carrabassett Valley.

There is some great snorkeling, very surprisingly, right there too. Just off the coast of ocean beach, where the Alewife hits LIS) you can see some large fish. (I think you caught some on your New London video. Thanks for the video.

Interesting editing. It was a white rod that had a knockdown on it, the angler picked up the white rod, but when they panned back to him he was fighting the fish on a black rod. The magic of video!

I met Rocky I’m thinking 25 years ago ice fishing together off the side of Castle Island. His wife was cross country skiing past us and he was telling us the story of Castle Island and the creator of the buildings on it, I’ll never forget he told us about this old hippie artist from New York, he told us his name was Maxwell Shubel I never forgot that he loaned us his bait bucket when he was done and had us drop it off at a small store on the way out of town. Good people good place certainly a nice area and if you have to camp up there I would recommend a place I went to years after that. Casey’s campground is on a peninsula sticking out of the east side Because it’s a peninsula there is a constant breeze we camped a week there for ATV and for one week and I saw one mosquito all the other campgrounds are down in the woods and you do not want to be there. I promise you that.

I was an Americorps member with NESSF in New London during the 2019-2020 service year and this video just brought back so many memories. Living on the top floor of two state street (four story brick building with a black top to the right of the station), hearing the ferries, trains, station announcements, buses, trucks, demonstrations in the plaza, and New London burning Benedict Arnold. Strolling out onto city pier to take in the water or to view whatever ships happen to be docked there (including the Uruguayan Training Ship V/E Captain Miranda, USS Sequoia, The Eagle of course, the Freedom Schooner Amistad, and the Mayflower Two) or do a spot of magnet fishing. Spending hours, especially during the initial stages of Covid, in all three parts of the CT College arboretum, with Mamacoke being a particular favorite, especially the little area of rock on the north eastern point. Visiting all of the incredible historical museums and historic locations like the customs house, Nathan Hale Schoolhouse, Fort Trumbull, the Kelo v New London House, and the Submarine Force Museum. Meeting sailors from the coast guard academy and the submarine base, along with watching the launch of the USS Oregon from my apartment. Biking around town and commuting on Pequot Ave, passing the Eugene O Neil House, the retirement home where I’d slow down and wave to the folks sitting on the front porch every day and seeing them wave back, popping by Fred’s shanty for a fish sandwich, being confused by private beaches coming from CA, and arriving at OB, in which we’d teach kayaking out on Alewife cove. Being introduced to Capt Scott’s by a local, and having both lobster rolls and clam chowder forever RUINED because it’s just not as good anywhere else. Discovering my favorite hot sauce that I now get shipped to me at Fiddleheads, Tomato Soup at Muddy Waters, Drag Shows and Pool at the Brass Rail, incredible soup at noodles and rice, and casually shooting the breeze at Neff productions. Convincing a friend to travel with me on the cape henlopen so I could say I’d been on a D-day landing ship on d-day, burning Benedict Arnold, along with trips afield to Groton, Mystic, Providence, Boston, New Haven and everywhere in between. What a marvelous place to spend a year, even if my CA accent, my tan in January plus a love of the Dodgers made me stick out about as much one can. I do often reflect and miss many things about that lovely town, especially since I got jipped on sailfest because of Covid. New London, I never knew it would happen, but suffice to say you stole a bit of my heart and have kept it in your grace.
