Exploring Lamar Valley in Yellowstone at dusk in search of wildlife. Dusk is the most beautiful time to go! You won't want to miss this scenery!
---- OUR SHORT STORY ----
Near the end of 2017 we sold our house, two vehicles and almost everything we owned to travel around the US as a full time RV family in our fifth wheel RV with 4 of our 5 kids and 2 crazy dogs. We share our Life In Motion journey as we seek adventure, a more simple life, less stuff and more happiness.

@@ThisLifeInMotion I'm going in September. Where exactly can I spot the owls and any specific time of day? In certain kinds of trees? Flying around? Thank you!!

Oh my goodness! Where is that lovely spot by the creek with the downed tree over it?

It’s a picnic area on Grand Loop Road. You can find it on the right side if you are traveling east away from Mammoth Hot Springs. It’s before you hit the heart of Lamar Valley. Can’t miss it! One of our favorite spots!

Thanks for the video! Ive heard that the traffic is a lot less in the evening. Would you agree?

Yes, definitely. Most people were heading out for the day as we went in. The only real traffic jams we had were caused by Buffalo hanging out in the middle of the road.

What time do you recommend leaving for Lamar valley from mammoth ? And also how long does it take to get back / is it ok to drive in the dark ?

Great vid! But, uh, the pronghorn is related to the goat and antelope, not sheep. But that's ok. They are the fastest land animal in N. America, and second -fastest in the world, behind only the cheetah, but can outdistance even the cheetah on longer runs! A great mammal all around!

Pronghorn are actually most closely related to giraffes

About what time did you drive out of Mammoth toward Lamar? We would be coming in/out of the park from Gardiner in June and sunset is around 9:15 pm the day we are thinking of doing this. Don’t want to drive the part roads when it is too dark. Thanks!

We drove in around 5 pm. Part of the drive back was definitely in the dark but it was worth it.

When you were filming the bear what size lens were you using? Were you in your car on the side of the road or did you get out? Did you hike to see it? Thanks for sharing. My family and I are going in early July, I am getting excited to see wildlife. I have just recently purchased a 150mm to 600mm lens for my camera.

I was using my iPhone 11 Pro for video. I travel with a 70-200 mm lens and many times it’s not enough for wildlife. That 600mm focal length will be perfect!!! We were on the side of the road and did get out of the truck. We didn’t hike at all in Lamar Valley, everything we saw was right off the road. Have fun, it’s incredible!

@@ThisLifeInMotion Oh my your iPhone wow. You looked like you were really close. I thought you were just off the side of the road. That is Awesome!!! I am looking forward to our trip. Thanks so much for your quick reply. Safe travels!!!

Yes all our channel videos are shot on my iPhone. I carry professional equipment as I’ve been a photographer for over 15 years but traveling with 4 kids fulltime it’s just easier to do video on my phone 🤪😂. I’m pretty envious of that 600 mm capability, it’ll serve you well here even from your car.

@ Adam my wife just bought a 150-600 mm lens just for this trip. We’ll be there next week on the 21st. Pretty excited I must say.
