Visiting Mesa Verde National Park | America's 1st Cultural National Park
Join us as we check another amazing US National Park off our bucket list! This week we take you along for our first visit to incredible Mesa Verde National Park in Southwest Colorado.
Established in 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt, Mesa Verde National Park was the first American National Park to be protected for its cultural significance.
At Mesa Verde, you'll find museums, archaeological sites (both mesa top sites and cliff dwellings), scenic drives and interpretive trails that tell the story of the Ancestral Puebloans who lived here more than 700 years ago.
Mesa Verde National Park is home to almost 5,000 archaeological sites. It's name comes from Spanish explorers and means "Green Table". Here the mesas are covered in the green of Piñon Pines and Junipers.
In this video, we tour Cliff House, Long House, Step House and get a view of Balcony House from the Soda Canyon Overlook Trail.

If you missed last week's visit to Cortez, Colorado (the Gateway to Mesa Verde National Park), you can find it here: • Visit Cortez Colorado ...

🤠 Thanks For Watching!
We are Tom and Stacie Langland, known for 10 years as RV Texas Y'all.
We are Native Texans and Full-Time RVers who are all about exploring the Great State of Texas and America one campground at a time. We're on a mission to experience life, not just live it and we're bringing you along for the fun.
In 2018, we sold our house, our business and gave away just about everything we own to hit the road and see America. Our home is a 33' motorhome named Freedom. We installed an extreme solar and lithium battery setup so now we can camp just about anywhere with our dog (Star) and our cat (Astro).
Every day is a new adventure, so join us as we RV America Y'all.
Safe Travels and Happy Camping!

Thank you for taking the tours. We have been to Mesa Verde, but the day we were there, all the ranger tours were sold out for that day. It was nice seeing the dwellings up close. It was nice seeing it again. Thanks again. 😊

Seeing those dwellings, I wonder why they chose so far up along a mtn side. Their water a growing fields would be at the bottom and they would have to haul their food/ water up those steep banks. I guess common sense has to be learned...Thanks for showing!
@rvamericayall

They actually were way advanced with water because they made little channels to catch and drop the water down into their dwellings!
