EXPLORING PARIS WITH NO SLEEP FOR 24 HOURS. I stumble around the city centre of Paris.

I fell off the bus at Paris Bercy Coach Station after a mammoth 20 hour journey from Edinburgh. Having only slept 3-4 hours before the journey, and next to no sleep during the journey, exploring Paris was always going to be a challenge. I chalk up a few sights and gulp down a few coffees. Looking back, I started this day with 24 hours of no sleep. By the time I made it to my hotel, I'd been up for 31 hours, and at Sacre Coer around 37 hours. No wonder I was starting to slur my words at the end! #paris #garedunord

My must go-to location is a bit closer to home, it's to sit in front of the Discovery when in Dundee. Your hotel missed a trick - if they removed that big TV they could brand themselves as an 'authentic 1980s experience' and make a packet. But it was free, and I know the feeling after a long coach journey. If they just had a park bench in the room it'd be good enough for a long sleep. I tell you what folks, if KZfaq has an 'Intrepid Traveller Award' I think we should all be voting for Scott. Incredible work to bring us these videos and very appreciated.

I have this image of our hero running around Paris in a computer game with his energy bar going into the red, desperately trying to find coffees and cakes. Similar to the knight character in Ghosts and Goblins. And he's not "tight" he's "careful" with cash. Excellent work mate. 👍👍👍

Bien venu chez nous. Welcome to our gaff. Reims is easy to pronounce, say ’rancid’ then take the 'id' off the end et voilà ’raanz’. One place to visit is the Place des Vosges which is close to la Bastille, if you want to mix with les Parigots (Parisiens) then you need to go the Montparnasse area.

Gare Austerlitz also is the terminus of the non-highspeed services from Toulouse. And France/Belgium are pretty strict on the no sunday trading thing. It's why a lot of towns bordering both nations are super busy on a sunday. Example: Sluis in the Netherlands.

Used to visit Tokyo rather frequently and would invariably stay in Narita City, very adjacent to Narita Airport. The reason was so that I could spend countless hours wandering around the beautiful Narita-San Temple and park. When I was there for extended periods, I would visit the park every day after work, the ultimate relaxation. Am retired now and yearn to get back there to take in the serenity and beauty one more time.

As some have said, coffee can be had at almost any presse-tabac, and as in Italy, there are different prices for drinking a cuppa at the bar, at a table or on the terrace. Many are even open on a Sunday. Breakfast is generally a rather meager affair in France, just a croissant and/or a part of baguette with butter and jam. But the bread of almost any bakery is great. Austerlitz is a secondary station, except for night trains, as all SNCF Intercités de Nuit leave from or arrive at this station. And if you prefer the old line to Toulouse (in stead of the TGV via Bordeaux), this is your station as well. Trocadéro is a must for the typical Paris money shot of the Eiffel Tower, and the museum of architecture there is great.

Hi Scott from Spain. I've loved Paris from my first time there in 1955. The boat on Canal St Martin is always worth a trip. I've never found a shortage of places to eat and drink in Paris, even on a Sunday. In many places there is a bylaw stating that supermarkets and other shops cannot sell bread on a Sunday to give the boulangeries a chance, so tha bakers make hay...

I used to travel around mostly London and the south coast, tunning church organs. I don't know why, but my favourite two places to work in was Chichester and Cambridge. Whenever I go to Sri Lanka with my wife to see family, I always like to go to Jaffna. I've no idea why, but it feels like home.

You sure do push yourself to the limit Scott. Many thanks, really enjoy watch your travels. Stay safe and enjoy. I often travel to England from Northern Ireland once/twice a year just for a change of scenery. A must for me is (1) York. First went there with the school out of Middlesbrough in 1967 and never miss going unless for some very good reason. (2) Saltburn-by-the sea is another as I lived in Diamond Street as a child., last but not least Burrill, Bedale, Garden Cottage, Cowling Road. Grew up there and I hold amazing childhood memories, which I still carry today

My God you have some stamina ! Overnight coaches and trains were something i did in my twenties and early Thirties. Once spent a night outside of the locked up Brussel Central station , fighting off the dossers. Couldn't face it anymore now I'm in my late fifties. Done that walk from Nord to Est a number of times. Always stank of pee by those steps. I was always impressed by all the electric locomotive lined up at the Buffers at the Gare Du Nord , all gone now. When the locos were shut down the pantograph would break contact with the overhead wire with a big spark and a bang ! When i go to Glasgow , very rarely these days i have to go to Bills Tools in the Barras.

In the past, as a truck driver, I wondered around Europe for 47 years., never going to Portugal or Russia. I was short listed to go to Moscow whilst employed by McDonanalds but it did not happen. I can say that neither you or Steve have ever where I have been where I have been. So the Question is, how could I do what you do. If you want to know why I gave it up, think Zeebrugga.

To answer your questions about must sees in a city. I've been to Berlin 7 times. On 6 occasions, I've flown in and out of Schönefeld (SXF) airport. Between the station and the long walk to the terminal is a little kiosk under the tracks where I would get a currywurst and beer for the train to the centre. I haven't been to Berlin since 2015 and will be going back in Summer in a few weeks from Prague (Watched your video on that), I don't think this will be possible as the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport is now operational.
