_Hello from Peru. Great Video in Olon , Ecuador. The new Market is helping the fish-seller to have better infraestructure. Here in Peru we have built special fishing port for those artisanal fishermen. Fastest unloading catch from their boats + evisceration + clean water + crushed ice . There are several in the coast , parking areas for fish-trucks , etc. keyword DPA ( Desembarcadero Pesquero Artesanal )_

Quién te peguntó,nadié está hablando de tú país ,metiche ,apesr de ser un pequeño pueblo tiene buena calidad de mariscos ,lógico que en las grandes ciudades,como Gusyaquil,Manta,Machala,Quito Cuenca,van a tener por mayor en grandes refrigerios y con mucho hielo, y más abundancia de matiscos.

Thank you for the video. My wife recently bought property in Olon and will build a house once we sell our home in the states and move. We can’t wait to hit the market again. Great market and wonderful people. I also just found out you and I share a friend from my home town who lives in Vilcabamba and whose daughter lives in Olon. the vendor took all of your good big shrimp heads!😂 next time pan-fry them in oil, when they turn red pour water into the pan and let them boil in medium to low heat, you will have the best shrimp broth ever!

My boyfriend and I have been to Ayampe but now seeing your video I think Olon is a great option! We actually were thinking about Puerto López for the cheap fish but seeing this video is great to see the prices stay the same in this market. Would you recommend Olon over Ayampe for a long term rent?

Olon is great! We’d recommend visiting and staying in the Olon area for a visit. It often comes down to the vibe and you can really only feel it by being there for a bit. It's very difficult to find decent ocean-caught seafood in Cuenca and Vilcabamba/Malacatos. I've lived in these two places for nearly 6 years and have given up on seafood except for some occasional mushy corvina.

I'm surprised they work with pounds because aren't they metric for speed limits and everything else? Do they work with kilos at all?

When I was a kid, we had the metric system, but we had pounds, yards and meters. It was a mess but for us it was "normal". It's hard for me today to think in kilos. But younger kids have grown with the "correct" metric system used mostly in bigger cities. Olón is a very, very small town.
