So the Wandering Woodsman was Wondering, cool! Those structures put me in mind of buttresses of some sort. I didn't have a sense of spacing but thought they might have been fitted with steel beams to support a RR track or perhaps a system of conveyer belts for loading. Just a thought. I saw a video about the stone fences of New England a few years back. There was an estimated 245,000 miles of them. I was mentioned that settlers would certainly have not had the time to build all these miles of fences, as there was land to clear and crops to raise. They attributed these fences to the Native Peoples. They seemed to be built on key lines or places of magnetic frequencies. There are some in my area as well but nothing of great length as in N.England. And a great skeeter bite cure is plantain, which grows in nearly every yard and along roads and feilds. Let the leaf wilt or heat it up with a match or lighter, to wilt quickly and apply the juice to the bite. In about 10 mins. or so the itch will stop and bump disappear. Also high in vitimins

I don't know if you have a smartphone, but I always download maps on to it just in case. We have some fairly steep walks in West PA as well. West Penn trail near Conemaugh dam comes to mind. I'm sure if you ever end up out this way, the old stone rail bridges near there would definitely be of interest. I always like your vids, especially if I can't get out much.

the train tracks are along the river. (former reading rr) the rail trail is on the other side of the river in this area, it crosses in douglassville the rail trail was the pennsylvania railroad. the tracks going to monocacy hill were never installed. i think the great depression stopped that.

There is a rail bed trail on the hill too. They had planned to have rail service to the planned stone quarry. The rail bed was all built, but no tracks were ever laid.

Hello! I really enjoy watching your videos-especially from upstate Pennsylvania in the mountains! Potter County is my favorite… Have you ever been to Conowingo dam in Maryland? It has a decent hiking trail that you might enjoy, right along the Susquehanna River.

I always seem to press the wrong button at night. Anyway, and after trying to correct my spelling, I was saying that plantain is high in vitamins and is used in salads in their young growth. A great video and looks like a great place to spend a day. Thanks much and as said before, I mad planning to be at the Historical Soc. In Lititz for your talk. DaveyJO in Lancaster Co.

Uhhggg, rainy wet weather and humidity....welcome to the great northeast! Oh and mosquitoes. On another note; Clowns are fun and entertaining...when they are confined to their own environment, such as a circus or show. But yes when you are hiking in the forest around old graffiti tagged ruins and one pops out around the corner...That would send me running...and likely screaming like a small child.

You do a good job. I would get so lost in the depth of the woods, its kinda scary. You are a brave man. I can't believe all the water that is around creeks etc. its crazy. But I am not from PA, I live in Minnesota. Building along a river may seem nice but not for me as you never know when that river will flood. A lot of people do, but it would not be for me. Good job.

Absolutely love this video. Beautiful country. It was nice to see where my ancestors walked and explored. Thank you very much for sharing. Question: do you ever run into bears or other wild animals? Just curious. Stay safe and God bless.

Hi, did I hear you correctly when you said that Daniel Boone's home was at Monocacy hill ???. It would be really great if you found that place and made a video of it, if it still survives that is. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful area. x

I saw a video the other day of a scarey clown in a kayak. IDT that you'd appreciate that too much if a scarey clown was out on the lake. IK I wouldn't.

@@thewanderingwoodsman7227 That's great to hear. I've been subscribed to your channel for quite awhile now & I've seen probaly 3/4 of all of your videos and I absolutely admire your way of showcasing everything. Wether it's the remains of an old village like Pandamonia, showing The Howard Tunnel or telling The Legend of Old Black Joe, your informative, and detailed. If you're uncertain of something you immediately say so. You have the ability to make me ( and I'm certain others ) feel as though I'm on the journey with you. Hats off to you. I look forward to every video you upload and can't wait to see the amazing job you'll do when you wander up my way.
