I'll be returning shortly to film a walkthrough of those tunnels.

Ice storm the winter before brought down all those trees. The bureau of forestry cleared those trails afterwards. I work in a different state forest, but got called out to help out. We love doing work like that haha always a good time.

I grew up in bear creek, my dad usta take us there when we were kids, back then not many people knew about it. We would have it to ourselves.

Wow! Sections of that place are a classic slot canyon! You don't see too many of those in eastern North America. Lots of them out west, but very few here in the east.

What is more interesting is just beyond the Tubs area. A place called Mountain Park. It was an old amusement park serviced by rail. There are some stone foundations and such left there. Its now a mecca for four wheelers. But the huckleberrys are great! And I know you like caves and coal mines. There is an open mine entrance up a short way beyond the Tubs too. Not well publicized. If you look you can find it. It's been a few years since I've been there, who knows DCNR could have blocked it by now.

So glad to hear someone in PA to call the water a creek and not a crick... ;)
@loudmusickillsthepain6485 жыл бұрын
I say crick. Well depends on the creek. There is a 'no name' creek near my house that everyone simply calls 'the crick'. But I would say creek for places like Turtle Creek.

A great scenic place, but seems to have that feel like it's in the middle of a city, like Central Park unfortunately

Great video. I have wanted to see this place for years, but it's over three hours away. I think I first heard about this place in the late 90's on a website discussing great swimming holes of the east coast. And it's in Scott Brown's book on PA waterfalls (great book, btw). I nearly had a chance to stop there a year ago on a quick day trip to CT, but I wasn't quick enough. I was also going to try to check out some other waterfalls in eastern PA (Dingman's Falls) but was told that a lot of the parks around there were closed due to storm damage from back in early March.

The sense of smell is under rated in modern society, unless something stinks. A blood hound can follow a trail 12 days old. That is amazing by human standards. I was walking in the woods with my sister years ago an she said “there are deer near by” I said how do you know? “I can smell them” she said. That got me to thinking that I should pay more attention to my nose. I got a little terrier once and the previous owners let his fur grow till it completely covered his eyes, but the little guy got around just fine apparently navigating by sense of smell. I trimmed the fur and he eventually got into the habit of using his eyes although it took awhile. I have smelled both deer and bear in the woods can’t tell you what they smell like but I know it. Keep up the good work!!

If you ever get to where western Massachusetts and New York state meet there is an area called Bash Bish Falls. It is a pretty location with waterfall, pools and a fairly large creek. On the map it is near the town of Copake Falls, NY.

At 5.30 looked like a great fishing hole..
@CheapestGamer5 жыл бұрын
All those downed trees are likely from the EF 2 tornado that passed through the area in early June. Not to mention that first pool you encountered where the dog came up to you is usually more open. All the rocks in that pool AND the ones nearer that tunnel are likely from the torrential downpours and flash flooding recently around the state.
