Discover The Epic Cable Car Hike Pr-pnpe 24 Puertos De Aliva At in Northern Spain's Picos De Europa.
A unique hiking experience in the Picos de Europa. This 13km route starts with a cable car ride to the Pena Olvidada and from there the walk is down into the valley. As all the height is gained by the cable car ride, this trek is mostly down hill which makes it a moderately difficult hike but with stunning views. The Picos de Europa's limestone peaks are something to behold up close and this is the easiest way to access them.
The walk is in 2 sections. The first explores the rugged landscape of the peaks. After descending to the Hotel Aliva, which is below the snowline if visited in early spring, the terrain becomes more lush and vervent. Cattle roam the slopes and woods freely. The second section is through a forested area which offers shade in the valley and is a beautiful walk amongst the trees in the summer. The woods is more challenging with a very up and down path until eventually you reach the village of Fuente De yet again.
