Hi Tony, Ive just subscribed after seeing a couple of your fabulous videos. Love the amount of route information which goes with them too. Very helpful for my future hikes. I did do Grey Knotts with my wife about 2 months ago but we went up a grassy path which runs parallel and right of the fence you went up. Its meets the fence at the stile which you cross over to do the final push. We intended doing Brandreth and Green Gable too but the wind and rain got too much for my other half so we came back down the way you ascended. Looking forward to catching up with some of your other vids when I get chance. Cheers ATB

Hi Tony, Welcome aboard! I know the way you mentioned. Best to get down sometimes rather than push on. I’ve exited a couple early this year mainly due to high winds. The videos are in folders for each of the 7 Wainwright fells if you have a particular area in mind. I’m just getting ready to release day 3 of the Cumbria Way so if you fancy a look at 1 and 2 they are also in their own folder. Enjoy it out there and thanks for the support mate 🥾😁⛰️

I attempted the Cumbria way in 2022 camping along the ay but it was very hot 27c and I only made it to day 4 before heatstroke hit me and I had to abandon it. tried again Sept 2023 but YHA and B&B it and although it was in the 20's it was easier without the weight and I completed it. I loved the walk and cant wait to do it all again the best way to do the walk is with the Cicerone guide book as it gives exact details of where each gate and stile is

Hi Tony. I had the CW planned for last year, but cancelled it due to the rubbish weather forecast. Having watched a few videos I’m glad I did. It’s obvious the farmers north of Ulverston don’t want walkers around. Shame they don’t appreciate that the rights of way were there a long time before they were! That “bull” sign on the gate has appeared on a few videos. Can you recall where it is? It is an offence to display such a sign when there isn’t actually a bull in the field and the sign can be forcibly removed. Hope you enjoy/ed your trip.
@trekkingwithtony
@trekkingwithtony 10 күн бұрын
Hi Tony, yes, in bad weather it wouldn't be great, mainly due to wet boots and the chance of blisters etc. I got some rubbing due to wet socks as it hammered down on the last 3 miles. Thankfully I knew day 2 was full sun so I look forward to showing you that. The bull sign is a mile before Kendall Ground. I've never seen a bull on anyone's video and to be honest, at that point there is no choice but to carry on anyway 🤣. Shortly after that is the national park and all plain sailing from there thankfully. I hope you get to do it soon mate⛰😃🥾

The farmers make it difficult to navigate over their farms, but then get irate and threatening when walkers go off route. Serves them right! They have a legal obligation to maintain footpaths over the farmland. I refuse to use the term “their land”…
@trekkingwithtony
@trekkingwithtony 10 күн бұрын
Thanks mate😃. I was surprised at how little wear the path had and the poor signposting pre-national park. It would be in the farmer's interest to clearly signpost as it isn't going to stop anyone who has arranged a multiday hike. `The good news is that once in the national park it is much clearer. Enjoy it out there mate⛰😃🥾

Hi Tony, Hi Allison. Firstly, congratulations on the £1K subs. Fully deserved. Secondly, Absolutely brilliant. That’s brought back so many amazing memories. We went wrong in a couple of the same places you did. I found the first day OK to navigate, but like you guys I had the route downloaded to n OS maps. If you’re purely relying on way markers then you’d possible struggle through some of the fields. We found it brilliant going through all the points of interest that you have seen on many others videos but seeing it for self is brilliant. Good video again Tony and Allison! I did the Tongue at the end of April as a stand-alone walk and climbed it from the back, coming down the steep nose. Made it more fun for me, although I found the return down the valley a bit of a trudge, tbh. Truss Lane though, was indeed pretty clear. I'll take in Sallows and Sour Howes on a route I've planned, from Kirkstone Pass Inn via Stony Cove Pike, Ill Bell and Yoke down to Troutbeck. Allison, I, for one, would love to hear your thoughts on some of the walks you two do, especially the steeper of the ups and downs. You are, afterall, the unsung heroine of the videos! Loved this video, Tony, and you asked for feedback from anyone who has done the route - we did a similar route a year ago with Alan Metalman. You took a shorter route off Sallows: we left the Garburn Road about 100 yards earlier than you and fought our way through the ferns; we went round the back of Troutbeck Tongue, you went up and down from the front. We went back the same way though you kept taking paths off the road - Alan and I bombed down the road whilst Andrea stayed at the Queen's Inn!! It was a long walk in total but very enjoyable. We hardly met anyone all day except a few fell runners. Your commentary throughout was brilliant - I wish I had watched your video before we did our hike!! I know you post a video every Sunday but I'm interested to know the timescales to put a video out. Is it planned well in advance or off the cuff. Is it a full day job Inc travelling ? @@jamesnichols2619 Hi James, Good question mate. I plan the route, do my research so I can get as much information as I can. I’m glad you appreciate the effort and that’s why it really matters that you like and comment as it helps the channel grow. @@trekkingwithtony Yeah, I know I suffer from not having drone footage, but Charlie is terrified by them. I’ll see if our upcoming trips to Wales & Scotland generate a bit more interest… Congrats on the 1k 👍

This is a great walk to bag St.Sunday Crag. It avoids the bustle of nearby Helvellyn and has some fantastic features and views. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for sharing another great video. I wasn’t aware of the brother’s parting stone. Interesting to read that his brother died just 4 years after their parting. Must try and visit this myself.🥾🗻

Another great video, Tony, as usual. I did catbells a few months ago walking from Keswick town centre. Can you tell me where you can the bus from and what's it's called, as I'm hoping to do it again with the in-laws so want to make the walk shorter. Thanks.

Hi Kev, glad you got to do it 😁. The bus is the number 78 from Booths supermarket. They are every hour, or you can get the boat to the jetty, again, every hour. Enjoy it out there mate 🥾😁⛰️

1st time watching your content and I absolutely loved it. My only Wainwright so far I walked it about 18 months ago prior to a cancer diagnosis and have been recuperating since with an aim to get back out there very soon. I walked it from the independent hostel on the far side of Dewent water, round the top end via Lodore hotel , my ascent started roughly at the lay-by where the ice cream van is in your video and then I basically followed your rout to the top and most of the way down until the signpost by the Wall . I went right there and back round the top end of the lake again. I loved every minute of my walk and this just made me recall 90% of it vividly Thanks so much.

Hi Chris, I’m glad you enjoyed it and thanks for taking time out to let me know. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and I hope the recovery is going well. I know the route you took and I’m happy I could bring to back to you 😁. Loughrigg is one I’m sure you’d love when you are ready to do another. I’ve also got some nice lower level ones here kzfaq.info/sun/PLybjgrNUqatVcb4GRA1DjLCHYmwyjV2Tu&si=t32HHZHpIZlGG6AK All the best mate ⛰️😁🥾
