Exploring the Ape Caves - Lava Tubes at Mount St Helens

Күн бұрынThe Ape cave is the third longest known lava tube in the United States. It is a site at the Mount St Helen's national monument, and is a fun adventure at the park. The caves are completely dark so light sources are essential. The lower cave is an easy walk, while the upper cave is more adventurous. I explored the lower cave on my trip, and it really is worth experiencing in person. Enjoy!

Been going there since before the mountain blew! We took gas lanterns, NEVER battery operated flashlights. Dad always said, batteries die, the gas lantern will stay lit, and you can depend on them. 👍🏼 Dont get trapped in the dark! He would have us kids sit on the big rocks and shut off the lantern, and we could hear whizzing and air going by our heads... BATS!! 😮 Fun times🎉 Tickets?? Youre getting jipped😂Its no longer a hidden jem🥺

I’ve done the lower ape cave befor and it is so much fun. It is a little cold
