It is s beautiful lake and I have been there 3 times but The Enchantments above Leavenworth are way better and there are lots of lakes on this trail just as beautiful as Blanca Lake.

What about hiking to Colchuck only, do we need a permit for that as well ahead of time ?

Wow!! Those views are something else. Marmots are so fun to watch, I can’t imagine seeing 50 of them. Very thorough trip report on the WTA site, appreciate all the detail and thanks for clearing the log off the road.

That is a great view of Glacier Peak. I love hoe the river valley gives an unobstructed view right up to the base of Glacier Peak.

8 miles, 3600’ elevation gain and two peaks, that’s a great hike/climb. I also love ridges but knees are not a fan. That marmot was cool to see, it wanted the tour too.

How's the road and parking lot for this trail? Would a small sedan like my Civic be able to make it?

thanks for the vid - agree about St Helens, once WSDOT gets the road back open Harry's Ridge trail is also an even more approachable yet still spectacular way to experience the area.

Beautiful. That's a workout. Some of that B roll makes me exhausted with the idea that you have to climb back down to retrieve your camera.

I knew this was going to be good as soon as I saw the helmet in the thumbnail. If you ever get to Maine, you should put Mount Katahdin Knife Edge on you bucket list. 😎👍

Great video that brings back memories. I went there with a buddy when I was in high school in the early 70s. We got to the top, but couldn't see the blue lake we were looking for, then realized we were looking right at it. It was still all iced and snowed over and the trail down was impassable. We returned later in the summer on a day like in this video. Beautiful place. I've been to Glacier Basin and Monte Cristo on the other side and wondered if it's possible to get to them from the Blanca Lake side.

5:40 Another great video. I don't think it was fire lookout. According to the Forest Service website the trail was built in the 1930s by the FAA for the construction and maintenance of a navigational light beacon on the mountaintop. It looks like the beacon was removed by the 1980s. Fire lookout was a good guess though. 😎👍
@wanderingwashington15 күн бұрын
Oh that's so interesting! I was thinking it didn't seem like there was enough space or unobstructed view for a lookout, the beacon makes more sense. Really interesting stuff!

I'mma liking this place. Gotta go. Hope to catch it froze when I set to go, maybe summer run 😊.Seen Multnomah falls, Willamette fall, silver creek falls many others. I love the observation of the brittle but heavy and so strong element mother nature gives.

The mountains around Snoqualmie Pass are indeed the jagged remnants of what used to be a stratovolcano from several million years ago. That's why there's so much granite everywhere.

I'm really surprised Hidden Lake was your first fire lookout. You should checkout Mt pilchuck. It's supper easy and really rewarding. It's always been my favorite hike in Washington. I've hiked it many times in my life, and I love it.

Those were some awesome views. That was a perfect Father's Day hike for you two. Washington in addition to having the most spectacular mountains, does have the most interesting place names. Last week Troublesome Creek, this week Mount Defiance, and the list goes on. 😎👍
@TheBlindGardener23 күн бұрын
I did this hike on June 21st. We were able to snag a perfect cloud free window to summit the defiance, especially that early in the season. It is totally awesome that you are doing this hike with your dad on fathers day. The wildflowers are amazing and the smell something that camera cannot capture. You got lucky on mosquitoes because we were swarmed by clouds of them around the Mason lake section. We were trying to find summit registry on the top to no avail, maybe it does not have one.
