The much-awaited Part Two of our trip to Glen White, PA, an abandoned coal and coke oven town two miles from the World Famous Horseshoe Curve outside of Altoona, PA. DayHikeDave and the Wandering Woodsman were glad to join me! Come along as we check out the Coke Ovens and the waterfalls around it by walking the old railbed. Sounds like a good idea for the camping places. Going back in winter would be great too so we can see more. What a contrast with the place now to the picture you posted of the houses and creek. Very depressing looking. Looking forward to the next one...

obvi9usly an historic site yet doesn't appear in a google earth search. only glen white cemetery is listed. can anyone provide some locators ?

The coke ovens are located directly across the street from the Cemetery, and they are most definitely a historic site. There are efforts in the future for recreation in the area and it will explain more of where we went on this trip.
