Hello Friends,
On this episode, I explore the hoas and motus of Tikehau and sneak on to the Pearl Beach Resort in search of wifi. The following morning I hauled up and made way for the village quay.

You seem very relaxed since arriving in the South Pacific, or maybe it's just that after over 250 videos your not as nervous in front of the camera as when you started sailing the Channel Islands. I appreciate all the local knowledge you include in your videos - hopefully I'll be able to put it to use in a couple years. One last thing: quay sounds like "kee".

Have you thought about using one of those anchor rings and floats? I think the way they work is you motor in a circle around your anchor, and the float on the ring works its way down the rode lifting up most of the chain and maybe the anchor. Then you just have to pull your rode on board rather than lift it up. Of course I've never tried this or seen it done anywhere but KZfaq...

@SailorJames
@SailorJames Жыл бұрын
That’s not how sailing works, your departure is determined by the weather and the tide times that make narrow passes safe or dangerous, and by trying to time your arrival into a new port in the day light hours if possible. My “slow rambling” is me speaking in detail about things other cruising sailors value; knowledge of a situation they have yet to encounter.

I think you might be familiar with these Long Beach, CA spots? I will have to do it solo, for the first time. 😬Honestly, I am only worried about docking!!! Forecast at the slip is 10-15 knots from Starboard mid to aft quarter, due to building Santanas.😭Def going for the midships line as we have the cleat on the the boat and finger! 🥳@sailingxanadusocal Vids to come!
