Episode #258 : Season 9 : The South Pacific Adventures
Hello Friends,
On this episode I haul up after getting my anchor chain freed from coral and moved to the much better anchorage of Kia Ora near the Tiputa Pass. I then have the most amazing snorkel of my life at “La Aquarium” and check out this end of the Motu here at Rangiroa.

Hey.. can’t knock him.. 23’ has done it before! :) besides we all know it’s not the length that counts but…… haha .. In all seriousness even 30’ is tons of work compared to a 50’ boat ride. It’s gunna be bumpy.. but it will sail

James, I'm hoping you just misspoke when you said you "held your breath" as you came up from 30ft without air in your tank from scuba diving (not freediving). If you did do this please try to avoid doing that as that can lead to an air embolism / lung expansion injury. You should be able to safely ascend from that depth while releasing little bits of air through your mouth on your ascent. The air in your lungs is expanding as you ascend. That is an amazing place you're at and I'm so glad to see you enjoyed your snorkeling at the Aquarium. You are in for a real treat as you continue to explore the underwater realm in the South Pacific. If you have the opportunity to dive with a dive operator at Tiputa Pass there in Rangiroa you will really get a chance to see just how beautiful the marine life there can be. Thanks for bringing us along. Have an amazing and safe journey! ~ Laz

I’ve been raised on boats, a diver for 34 years and more hours on the ocean than I can count and I’ve got nothing but respect for this man’s ability and guts. ✌️🇺🇸✌️. The ocean is a beautiful place but also very dangerous if you aren’t alert.

What a great place to drop the hook! Good point about not having to be a billionaire to share the same view. The marine life there is awesome, and all you need is a mask n snorkel. Trigger fish, parrot fish, Black Tip Reef Sharks, to name a few. You're living the dream brother without needing hundreds of thousands too. My sailing career consists of cruising around the UK and through Europe to the Greek Islands over the years. So your blue water passages and ocean crossings over there in the Pacific I find really interesting. Enjoy sir

Quick question, I have a spare air tank that I use to dive on my anchor/mooring and I was wondering if you had to breath out on your way up because of the air in your lungs expanding. I know in scuba courses they never say to hold your breath on the way up because of the dangers of causing damage to your lungs. I'm guessing it happened so fast you were probably had just exhaled so it wasn't an issue of having air in your lungs but just curious what you experienced on the accent? Thanks
