As Artists we often find ourselves stuck in the comfort of our studios, surrounded by the same walls and tools day after day. However I think venturing into new and unfamiliar territories can be a profound way to break this routine and ignite the creative process. When artists step into the unknown, they challenge their senses and their perceptions, often encountering scenes and stories that they would never have imagined.
This canoe trip had been something I had been planning for some time and I had been using Google earth to find and locate small seasonal rivers in the lower reaches of the Okavango Delta that I wanted to explore by canoe.Areas that would be remote and with a high possibility of seeing wildlife which has been a huge source of inspiration for my art here in Botswana.

That bull elephant was in musth. You can see the temporal glands leaking on his head very clearly. It was wise to keep a good distance. They are extremely moody at that time. I absolutely feel the nervousness that it invoked in you!!

I think I would have fallen out of the boat from the panic of paddling over that huge croc!! 😭😂 but it looked like a fun trip & very inspiring for creative minds

Fortunately this croc was very sleepy unlike some others I have seen, I think it was the cold water that kept him so docile.
