We are located in the Hannibal Neighborhood at the archaeological site of Carthage in Tunis, Tunisia. This neighborhood is the last remaining Punic city following the Roman conquest of Carthage. Gerak Darma's team is currently examining a residence in the Hannibal District. This house features a large, unusual pool resembling a swimming pool, suggesting it may have belonged to an upper-class individual in Carthage. The peculiar pool, akin to an oversized bathtub, is notably deep. Carthage, a Phoenician city-state on the North African coast (present-day Tunis), was the most extensive, wealthiest, and powerful political entity in the Mediterranean before the Punic Wars (264-146 BCE) with Rome. This neighborhood is named Hannibal Quarter in honor of Hannibal, a Carthaginian general, and statesman who commanded the forces of Carthage in their battle against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War.
