Gerak Darma's team remains at the archaeological site of Carthage in Tunis, Tunisia. We are exploring what appears to be the ruins of a house. There is a small tub, likely used for animal drinking water. Adjacent to it is a small underground area topped with what resembles a roof (its purpose is unclear). We proceed to ascend a staircase trodden by many since ancient times. Carthage thrived for over 500 years before the Roman conquest in 146 BC. Due to the city's thorough destruction, scant traces of the original Punic capital survive. Nevertheless, the dramatic fall of such a civilization continues to fascinate today, and the UNESCO-listed Carthage Archaeological Park remains a popular destination on Tunisia's travel routes. What a place to be during our short visit to Tunisia. Love it.
