Funky little place. Yeah, so many places big and small have much less foot traffic than they used to before the pandemic. A lot of offices have stayed remote or at least have different onsite arrangements than before, going in on flexible schedules. I live near Washington, DC and the downtown there is still very much recovering from the pandemic since so many federal agencies are still working remote to various degrees. I would guess in a tiny capital of a tiny state like Vermont that any significant degree of remote state work would really turn that place into a ghost town. Seems relatively prosperous, though. There are cute small towns and depressing small towns and Montpelier definitely seems like the former.
