Really cool Vlog. A lot of history in such an iconic place like this. Thank you for showing us and giving us a tour. Akiba was at one point the tech capital of Asia when Japan manufacture almost everything in electronics. Of course those who are techies also brought their other passions such as Anime and game centers to the area. The birth place of maid cafes. It's a bit of nostalgia that is slowly going away with the rise of internet shopping but still glad I could see it in your video. Thanks

@ickn2005
@ickn2005 17 күн бұрын
@@skum73 Just a speculation and from an outside perspective. Asians, from my experience, are very business minded and put lots of stock on looking the part. Having a fine writing instrument to either use during business and to give as gifts, would lend to more of an availability. Since they could tend to be more conscious of appearance than many westerners. I've seen nice deals being signed with a pilot G2. Where as, a professional Asian business man would probably be ashamed to use such a pen and might even look at it as disrespectful to the prospective or current client. Obviously this is mere speculation. It might just be the concentration of wealth in some regions? Good observation on your part though.

I live around 30 minutes from Akihabara and go to Yodoshi Camera all the time. Did not know about the batting cage up top. I will check that out. Had lunch there on the 9th floor, recall that it was under $15, which is a fair price, and decent quality food. For electronic good however, there are cheaper places. Personally I like exploring that area on the other side of the JR station and a few blocks down. Much better prices for M.2 SSDs, USBs, and misc items as keyboards, etc. Not far from Yodobashi, like less than a 20 minute walk is an indoor sauna (called onsen) that is nice to go to. Recall it's around $20, and they have free alcohol. Relaxing time there.

I will say, I am quite jealous of that store, here on the west coast of canada, we used to have some specialty stores that had decent selection of certain items like instruments or wiring for home theater or even computer stores, but we've never had anything that's all in one like that WITH that selection, even in separate stores. due to our regulations for things we don't get a lot of specialty items especially in a store front (I had to buy the majority of my stuff from amazon and even then it's hard sometimes as the US amazon has more stuff than .ca has). I WISH we had stores like this one out here, especially on the west coast, east coast tends to get more options than we do as well. also doesn't help that canada gets a lot higher prices for stuff as well.

This place reminds me a little bit of Fnac here in Portugal, it started as a book store and went into technology and music later on and has a lot of different things including almost all kinds of technology, but only bigger brands sadly, but also statues and figurines and other merch stuff, lego, puzzles, posters and more, but they tend to be quite small, nothing compared to this monstrosity.
