Exploring Unclimbed Scottish Sea Cliffs | I waited a year to climb this!

Жыл бұрынAfter Robbie Phillips and Alex Moore climbed "The Longhope Direct" E10, they still weren't done... Robbie had found unclimbed lines on the sea cliff known as Rora Head, including a gnarly and very bold line which could be a contender for the scariest climb in the Orkney islands.
This is only Part 2 of 3 of the "Climbing on Hoy" series, the third instalment "STACKED" coming to KZfaq in March, but until then will be screening at events all across the UK from Jan-March. Watching that opening sequence, with its stunning golden rock and abundant sunshine, really warmed my soul on a wet winter's day. Obvioulsy the bit after (where it did actually rain) didn't, but hey - that's British weather isn't it?!

I hope Alex comes on more adventures with me this year! He’s definitely one of the best climbing partners I’ve ever had. STACKED is defo the best of the 3 films imo. Can’t wait to show it :)

Robbie mate. been following you for a few years now and i feel like with this Hoy series you have fully come of age as an all star fucking badass. dont get me wrong. you already had massive cred but ascents like this, and the film to go with it, has risen you (no pun) to another level of awesomness. fucking well done mate.

The first shot with clear blue skies had me thinking: "the British weather doesn't look bad after all". Stunning scenery, must be amazing to have all this variety in your country. True spirit of climbing shown in every second of this movie.

Yeah! Ryan Balharry did! That was actually captured whilst we were climbing the old man of hoy during the Sea Stack challenge (the morning after the E8 - 3 hours later I should say 😂)

Technical question: what is up with the belay rope at 9:10. It looks like you daisy chained it?

Yeah that’s how I set up ropes at belays instead of lap coils. I just tie them up with overhand knots on a sling or onto the belay i and my ropes don’t get tangled 😊

@@RobbiePhillips I noticed this as well. Where'd you learn it? How do you find it in terms of efficiency relative to lap coils? Definitely looks a bit neater and easier to manage than lap coils.

@@lukedclimber Hey Luke, sorry just seen your message. About the same to setup although sometimes you may need an extra sling. MUCH easier to manage than lap coils. Ive used this system for the last 8 years I'd say, and i'd never go back to lap coils
