You are not doing a stupid test! This is very informative and educational! I was actually holding off in replacing it because it aint cheap. It cost about USD$1400 to have it replaced.

Faced a similar issue with this battery after jump-starting the car - after that it swelled. Who is interested - the chemistry of this battery LiFePo (is NOT LiFePo4, I am not a professional here, but that told me people who worked with this concrete battery). The cell characteristics: 2.5V - 3.6V. The charge settings from the car for this battery: 14.2 (100% battery charge, 13.3 - float current voltage, 11V - fully discharged voltage, full power cut off). Maybe this will be useful for somebody=)

Great video, are their any dangers in tapping into the vehicles charging system to charge a battery bank used to power a mobile office through a inverter. All charging will be managed through a DC/DC charge controller, the battery bank is AGM so I am wondering if their is anything I should be aware of given the main 12v car battery is lithium?

Hey buddy I have an issue with my 2014 Hyundai hybrid sonata when I press the brake and start switch the car won’t start the cluster says READY also says hybrid battery low slow pull over and park I already checked the hybrid battery cells they all say 27.6 volts also checked the big fuse switch and is good the 12v battery is new and the sucker won’t start any ideas I’m mechanic been working with regular vehicles but this hybrid crap is a new animal for me any ideas???????

Hey Jose! Great video as always. I have asked this question before in mechanic groups but no one knows the answer. I have kia niro with flat battery, if you jump start it it says ready on the dash but 12v battery lights stay on dash and i have tried to accelrate , it never started. Car only has 2000kms on it. Measure the 12 battery voltage on jumping points it comes up with 4.5v . Would you know how can i charge the 12v battery ? Vehicle was sitting for sometime befor it came to us. I have pressed the 12v battery switch by steering wheel .Just curious if you can help with any advice. Thanks

Tablet computer used to have swall battery, due to poor temperature sensing, caused over heat. LiFeP4 battery is little safer than Li-ion but less capacity

The high voltage battery is LiPo lithium polymer, not LifePo4 lithium iron phosphate. Interesting choice since LiPo isn't known for long cycle life.

Yes, LiPo's are very dangerous when the air hits the inside. Fireballs for sure!

This is exactly why they should be using lithium tantinate and not lithium ion. It solves all these issues.

If this battery really is lifepo4 it's really hard to tell if it is balanced because the charge curve is flat so you can only tell if they are balanced till they are fully charged around 3.5v you can start to see the voltage drift from each other

@Hybrid Solution Diagnostics hi José. I enjoy very much your videos. Today I Just finishing reconditioning my battery is a avalon hybrid. When I started the life expectancy was 30 % the triangle every now and then trow a code with Dr pruis app I resetted the code and kept on driving. I got 13 cell from ebay and I said I did a reconditioning so just now I did a expectancy test y it came out 97% life and it tell me that that battery is new condition but I'm getting the triangle and I can not resetted it won go away. Don't know if is a error from the app or a different phone. The car is running hybrid normal. I left the battery for 48 hour balancing but when I was taking cables off. Some of they shorted for some second negative to positive and they sparked a little bit. Do you think that was enough to unbalance the battery or what can you please 🙏 tell me about what might be going on. Such a bad design compared to the one Toyota uses in their batteries, busbars can't be replaced here, they rust the battery is toast, unreliable overall.
