It appears by the size and sound I am hearing these are either hand grenades, possibly a mortar round which Russia owns a lot of. If they are indeed hand grenades, then that means Ukranian troops have gotten behind enemy lines and are in close proximity to throw the grenades at their intended targets. I wonder if they have secret Navy Seals like the US of A?

From video footage it's clear that there was already "smoke on the ground" before two large simultaneous explosions at least 200 metres apart.. and a third about 30 seconds later not seen on most videos. Witnesses report some 12 separate explosions. What's clear is that this was a long-range, very high precision multiple missile strike probably on the ammunitions warehouses at the airport, specifically targeted to create explosive shock waves big enough to inflict major damage on the fragile parked aircraft in the vicinity. If the USA has indeed supplied ATACMs to Ukraine, that would most likely be under an agreement not to make any admission whatsoever. That would also make sense in the UkA's response to the destruction, which was a superb, cool answer - in short, "You Russkies really should stop smoking near your bombs."

Spot on. There's a lot of support coming from "the West" (aka the USA) which doesn't make it into the media. This is a big message to Putin. The Crimea can now be isolated by Ukraine at will.

its not a strike. its too far from Ukraine. also Crimea has plenty of air defense systems. аnd we can see no missiles. so most likely somehow ukrainian subversives just blew up that place. just like when recently they made dron airstrike in Sevastopol, which was launched from crimea territory

@@noid717 I'm inclined to agree, having looked at further info. I think it was a UkA SpecOps mission, executed the night before and leaving time-delayed charges which would properly explain the simultaneous explosions. Plus, the airfield is somewhat unique being only 2km from the sea, giving SpecOps a quick and simple infil/exfil route.

Those are massive explosions, and multiple blasts. Hopefully that means a mammoth pile of Russian munitions, fuel, and a significant number of jets and helicopters that were sitting on the ground are all destroyed or badly damaged. Could be as huge a loss for Russia as the loss of the Moskva if they lost a large number of their aircraft.

Those appear to be ATACM missiles judging by the large blasts. HIMARS 70km range is not nearly enough to reach 150km which is the approximate distance of the airbase from the Kherson region

Latest info is supporting more and more that this was a UkA SpecOps mission. The airfield is only 2km from the sea, giving quick infil/exfil, and the simultaneous explosions suggest time-delayed charges in the two main munitions caches. On Twitter an anonymous UkA military contact has supposedly confirmed this too.
