I still need to get my right foot underneath me better, and get my left arm swinging at the right time, but yes the second throw was a lot better. I was a lot more warmed up for it and it showed.

@@arthurkatahdin9502 Especially the release on your first throw looked off and you still threw almost 40'. That second throw though, I knew you won before the shot even left your hand. Your explosive glide and release were on point - you move too fast for me to make out your footwork, I'll take your word on that point 😂

Wow. It was such a blast to make it out to Nick’s event, I’m so glad I was able to make it! Seems like I'm somewhat decent at throwing lol. I had so much fun I made a vlog about it on my channel too.

I’m a decent thrower, 50 in shot and 170 in disc. But I LOVE this. It’s awesome to see people throw who never have before, it’s even more fun to see him say “good technique” even when it’s a scratch. That’s just awesome encouragement. Thanks for putting this on man

I wonder what kind of waivers they had to sign before the event. I've never been seriously injured while throwing, but I'm sure a few of them walked away with some ulnar nerve pain even with just a single throw, and you always know it when you open up a little early on that release. 🤣

@@tazpengra may as well wear roller blades then when running. at least have somewhat legal technique . throwing a shot put will injure your arm.

@@stevespyder True. At least the untrained didn't get many rounds; throwing it like a baseball instead of putting it like a shot IS dangerous. But to reiterate; these fun, casual events don't follow strict T&F rules, speaking as a USATF certified official, I think about everyone would have been DQ'd at some point for false starts, lane violations, etc. Including Nick! (I saw what you did there...😉). I think it's cool that he added field events, and out of the throws, the shot was probably the least problematic. I'm looking forward to the Decathlon Showdown, but I think it should be a speed-decathlon, with all events taking place in under 4 hours!

You’re doing good things Nick! Love the channel. I threw shot, disc, and ran 100m, 400m in HS at 165 lbs. I was never amazing at any one event but on the podium in all.

I used to throw the 12lb for fun in practice as a skinny runner (not thrower) so in college I said no big deal, I got this! Boy did that 16lb in college feel so much heavier then 12lb.

Shot put is one of those events where it might be easier to still be better as an older man. I'm much heavier when jumping now but I'm much stronger for shot put i bet. I miss decathlon. These videos bring back the glory days feel
