As an HR professional of over 20 years I will say that it is very common especially in high-tech companies and start ups to have almost all employees sign nondisclosure agreements. So it’s actually not strange.

Despite her being a fraud, the details about her actual institute aren't that strange. I worked for a research center and I had to sign an NDA, had a key card to go between buildings and departments and our work emails were trackable. The key card part in particular is important to distinguish between people's security clearances or if you have to transport important items like biological specimen it can be monitored. I always felt really important when I was able to unlock a door with my clearance 🤣🤣

I remember watching that documentary when it came out. This was definitely a wild story and it's insane how many people she duped. Her own employees started to realize that everything she was promising investors, vendors, and patients was just impossible to achieve and the reality of what was actually happening in the lab was vastly different than what she was telling the world.

If we can have birth control patches that deliver estrogen or other hormones through the skin, have Fentanyl patches that delivers pain medication through the skin, lidocaine patches that also relieves pain and numbs muscle soreness through the skin.....How is the concept of an Antibiotic patch that delivers antibiotics into the body through the skin considered so impossible? We have literally done this exact concept with other medications so why can't we do it with antibiotics?

Currently it's because there are a lot of differences between how medications like birth control and fentanyl are absorbed into the body (fat soluble vs. water soluble) and what they do within the body vs. how antibiotics are absorbed and what they do. Hormones and pain medication can be applied in patches, where they are slowly absorbed over time into the bloodstream and dispersed throughout the body. Because both of those things are able to build up over time, it is possible to contain a proper dosage within a patch. Some antibiotics that are already widely used - things like polysporin, are already topical and applied to the skin, however it gets more complicated when you are dealing with different varieties of antibiotics, and depending on the dosage of the prescription amount needed (most antibiotics require higher doses than a patch would be able to provide). That being said, who knows what the future will offer for medical advances!

Because Fentanyl is dosed in *micrograms* and lidocaine is usually 2-4% active ingredient. Antibiotics are often more than 1000mg daily so it’s not feasible to absorb that much through the skin

I think she was in it genuinely wanted to create these things in the beginning. I think she let her imagination run wild an take over her life. She had a good idea and I think she panicked when all the tests weren’t working, but she was already far too deep with the investors. To even get there in the first place, I think she probably manipulated her way there. So it was a good concept done poorly, then she tried to hide its problems with turtlenecks.

have to disagree. in my opinion, from the start it's clear that her intention is not good in sense to make it easier for people to test blood, but rather selfish in sense that she craves success so much especially success through inventing things that she will do anything do make that happen. plus she is very good at convincing people like how she did to the dean and advisor of her engineering school and also the investors even before her company has real product to over.

Also, I didn’t see you mention this, at the beginning you spoke about Elizabeth’s uncle and how she was close to him and he died from cancer, turned out that whole story was fake as well. He did die from cancer, but he only died a year before she started giving speeches about him and she wasn’t even close to him. She basically used his death to pull on people’s heart strings and give a compelling story for why she was in this business.
