This is why is so important to tailor your resume to every job you apply to. One resume doesn't cut it anymore.

alternatively, format your resume as a one-size-fits-all lol (my second page is a "skills page", where i basically put all the buzzwords that i can plausibly claim competence) there are programs that automatically adjust your resume and cover letter to match job postings HvH lobby moment

How can we "game" this system?. I've heard before that a cool trick is to just write extra keywords that match the job description and make them invisible and the smallest font possible and put it somewhere on the bottom of the resume but apparently these systems also have counter-measures for that type of thing. So idk

products have actually been put on the market for this exact purpose. automatically adjusts your resume and cover letter to match the job listing. applying for jobs has basically become a HvH lobby (Hacker vs Hacker)

Hi there firstly I would like to say I watched your entire video but have not watched all your videos so its possible you cover this in other areas. I'm someone who works in the ATS adjacent space not directly with ATS but we integrate ATS a lot and I thought I would provide some clarifications. What you are describing there is the JSON output from a API of course it includes the responses to the questions all the files you upload and document titles etc. If the endpoints did not include it, then it would be discarding this information and nobody would read your responses and make a qualified argument accordingly. Can this data be used in a secondary system to "automatically reject you" of course it can be. But the important distinction here is this API the code you are showing and saying this will reject you does not do this. Allow me to draw an allegory, Someone gives you the answers to the questions, can you then put this in chat gpt and ask it to tell you if these are good answers, of course you can. Can you read them and make a choice as a person of course you can. This api is just that a application programming interface that gives you access to the questions. By the way, as confusing as this distinction may be its important to make because big claims require good proof. I have heard stories of algorithm driven candidate viability programs I mean its not a secret they advertise them. This code is sadly not code for that though !

The important thing here is that people have made the false claim that it's impossible for somebody to use these api's to automatically reject you, and I have proven in this video that that is false. Keep in mind that I've actually worked in the ATS space. I have seen the ATS code. I have seen things that I do not agree with. And as part of that, I know. that these things are happening. You can't claim that these systems are not rejecting people without users because I've literally seen the code that does it. I've literally seen the code that explicitly limits people based on age. I've literally seen the code that calculates people's age based on their amount of experience and then, if they have too much, keeps them out of the running for the job. That is why I am against ATS systems. This is why I cannot trust ATS systems.

That API is atrocious. Morals aside, it's technically atrocious. I could understand a "fitness" score to determine how well a candidate fits the job posting, or for estimating mental/technical aptitude based on a variety of factors from the resume and cover letter... but this is just... High school level competence. I'm so sick and tired of seeing incompetence everywhere in the most critical aspects of work and government Although, if this shit gatekeeps me from a certain job, I've dodged a bullet. Any job that relies on this cheap work doesn't deserve any time

But this is essentially 90% of corporations. In this kind of INTERNATIONAL capitalistic technocracy, where they have access to Indians and Central America and Europe. They're going to treat us expensive wage Tech workers as replacable parts. I would say the opposite, if you are skilled then make loop holes for the like minded bro to make a living. Get in and control them from within, because they are replacing Americans out of the workforce while charging us the same price for product that's literally not made by Americans. That is parasitic economics. I understand the idea of working and supporting small American tech firms but in these days and age, they'll either just get swallows up by Thoma Bravo or shadow banned by big tech algo. We can't fight big tech head to head anymore, guerillas warfare is going to be where it's at.
