I was thinking about this quality issues of vw in the recent past. You have pointed all those things in this video and I can understand each and every point you said since I’m being a user of vw polo gt since 2016. The build of older vw’s and skodas will be solid unlike the new ones (virtus , taigun, kushaq, slavia).

Cost cutting is evident in kushaq or Slavia, compared to our 1.6 rapid tdi now it's done 1.5 lakh kms and going strong, but I must admit that we changed two injectors at 40000kms for 50k, that time they had issues with quality of fuel in India, but other than that the ownership had been trouble free till now. Now with the kushaq and taigun, or the sedan siblings, they had the Epc issues initially which got solved later, then they have AC cooling saga, most of these were reported only in their 1.0tsi not much in their bigger siblings of 1.5tsi, and some of the 1.0 owners had engine vibration issues but not a major concern, most had brake noise issue, had their rotor replaced. But other than that they been doing OK For me, as we have our car for a longer time, I would choose the 1.5 over the 1.0 tsi just for the reliability over the having the car over 10-15 year period Even the 1.0 is running trouble free for many owners, just they tend to have some qc issue for some The biggest advantage for them is their engines and their build, they tend to have compromised on other factors for having a good engine and build Creta and seltos sells more due to their features than build. Creta and seltos got a 3 star with unstable structure and their handling cannot match the vw twins And last month in the Sedan mid size segment it's Salvia that's sold more than the Verna at 1749 and Verna 1700 units and city at 1336 and virtus at 1174

Exactly my sentiment also. I went to check out a taigun around the time it was launched and had a heart attack when i saw the roof liner. Thankfully, they’ve fixed it now. I would still get a used jetta over a new virtus any day.

I agree with you bro, VW has downgraded a quality lot after the localization. It is nowhere around the OG old cars from VW and Skoda. I own a Polo 2012 TDI and the Virtus GT. The interior quality is so well on the polo as compared to the Virtus. Apart from that the A.S.S everywhere in India is a pain to deal with.

this is because First Gen VW/SKODA 2010 time , they were developer under German leadership becuase they launched it for the first time in India, many parts used in those models are same as you get in Germany or EU marked. Therefore they are awesome and good. We own 2011 VW Vento we used to drive on highway 185-190 kmph with a great ease and great confidence on road. POLO is a global model, which means development lead by GERMANY and produced around the world same car same structure same quality. where as Virtus or other new Skoda models are made for India /South America markets by India as lead taking global platform and developing all down here.

True bro... I can feel that too. My 2013 Grande Punto speedo console shows low battery warring sign even before 1 week before battery discharge. But my 2022 Honda Amaze won't show that sign bro. Even some Honda bigwing motorcycles have battery volt indication. There was an era where manufacturers keep their standards but now it's all gone bro. 23Lakh Innova crysta's features make us sad when we compare it with Safari/Scorpio. Bro..once I visited vw showroom to check out the t roc ,which was directly imported from Europe and that was tagged at around 25lakhs . Even in that car I faced same plastic quality issues and was very disappointed.

You have nailed it absolutely on point on whatever I ‘ve been thinking ever since I bought the Virtus GT. Additionally you could’ve spoken about the gearbox and engine quality too, which too have the same story. I clearly understand as I too owned a VENTO (TSI /auto ) which is way better and refined than the Virtus. Well the difference is a long list. Is my 22 plus lakh Virtus worth the buy ? Absolutely not ! It’s totally a botched product which looks great on brochures than on real life !!!

The interior quality and rattling was the main concern to me after I purchased slavia. Immediately I decided to sell for loss of 5 lakhs, but one of my friend told unless you go back to vento or rapid or polo, no car irrespective of brand has interiors without squeaks or rattles. At first, this statement was not believable, but when I took test drive of Verna, Creta, urban cruise hyryder, Tata Nexon, Kia seltos. All of them had some or the other squeaks. So I m waiting now to find a vento or rapid manual (good condition one) in used car market and sell my slavia. I m from hyd.

It’s made in India now . Not German imported things. They had to down the manufacturing costs so they degraded quality little bit but not drastically. It got 5stars. kia maruti Hyundai are selling tin cans still with pathetic drive quality.

Agreed on all you said, but do check the invoice breakup of ex-showroom price for Virtus/Slavia/Taigun/Kushaq and compare with earlier Vento/Rapid/Polo. On the entire ex-showroom cost Central GST, state GST is almost 40%. For eg. Virtus top end ex-showroom cost 20L, out of which only 13L going to Volkswagen India, remaining all taxes. For 13L I don’t know how the manufacturers build the car. For 13L, I still see VW/Skoda giving good build quality and engines without compromising on safety.

One thing we all fail to understand is that the old VW/Skoda cars came with the budget PQ25 platform while the new cars come with the MQB-A0-IN platform. This is very superior platform and the development for this platform just for India cost a lot of money. This is where most of the money was spent which was why the interiors were such low cost. Thats the reason why the new gen VW/Skoda cars secured 5-star rating while the old gen cars only got 4-star rating. Yet the Skoda/VW cars cost the same as a hyundai. If customers are willing to pay more money, then they can spend more money on interiors.

Bro i went to buy Taigun last year for 20L budget. After i did full inspection the car, i found plastics and build quality was cheap and poor. Everyone laughed at me for saying something like that about vw. Later i bought an used german made 2019 polo GT top model for 8 lacs. This was the best investment. Nobody understood my reasons why i chose old polo even though i had budget of 20L. Im a big vw fan. But the second i sat down in taigun/kushaq. I instantly felt the cheap build quality and poor sunroof and poor dashboard. I dont want to waste my 20L for namesake VW brand name which is completely made in india. Thanks for reflecting my opinion

Very honest review. I own a VW Vento 1.2 TSI which is nearing 10 yrs! Absolutely love it's build quality! Feel so confident even if I drive at 180+ kmph. However with too much of compromise in the new cars due to cost savings, still whoever has driven a VW will never drive a Japanese or a Korean brand Car! BTW I've driven 140000+ kms so far and no major replacements till now!

Bro i am also missing the old vw skoda quality a lot. I have a 2009 superb TSi and a 2014 vento TDI. So im aware of the things you mentioned. The thing that pissed me off odf more is that these were supposed to be based out of the troc and karoq - 4 discs vs 2 - aero twin wipers - beautiful 8k ops vs shit parking camera - extreme CBU build quality vs localised shit quality - seat quality - canton audio vs some shit audio - quad headlamps vs twin - autoleveling headlamps But overall, the sad part is, no other brand other than tata has a good build quality even after all these years. Recently the verna has a decent build quality. So i think vw is content that no other engine or no other gearbox is qs competent as that.

Hi bro even I own a 1 litre Virtus and I have polo has well which is Diesel TDI I miss the features badly that one touch power window and from remote itself we can open and close the windows but honestly speaking I have gone through your entire video my Virtus doesn’t make any noise for Power window and all I think the kusaq which you have is an manufacturing defect and more I agree that build quality is not the same as old VW or Skoda even I have tested it in my polo and Virtus seems to be low having all low plastics but even though I sat in my friend’s Korean cars which is Seltos or Creta they have pleats of feature but failing but used very poor quality of plastics comparing to them VW and Skoda are better.

I own skode slavia 1.5 25,000+ km driven, each and every point you said is true, apart from that these are still best in segment in terms of driving comfort. high speed stabilty, cornering etc.

I’m super glad you made this video. Thanks a ton! I took delivery of my Virtus a few weeks back and I’m majorly depressed. The car is PATHETIC and I’ve made several attempts to sell the car. I own a MKV JETTA, I compared the quality of ever single part and the Virtus felt like a blown up toy. Every single aspect of the car has been SEVERELY degraded and I wish I’d have rather gone for a Honda city.

Even old vw interiors are not upto the best benchmark.. Vw concentrated on engine & driveline only.

VW group can easily fix these things and launch the products. But, this will further increase the price. Increased price will reduce their sales which will force them out of the market. They haven't compromised on the engineering basics. So, it's fine they did some cost-cutting here and there to offer proper germany engineering.

@9.45 true bro even the after service of Volkswagen is not good , they charged 12k for denting and painting for a single door for my 10 year old polo, door handle interior la proper ah coating and waxing pannala , the quality is okayish and you can spot the feel with original paint and their repainted one ,when questioned they starting demanding more money for the quality. Nowadays VAG is too money minded instead of focusing on customer experience
