The driver will lose his livelihood and will not be able to drive any type of vehicles to ply for fares in the future. His taxi license has been revoked. He knows there is a demand for the service and was there to provide it. In the end, he is now losing his rice bowl and losing 5k rental deposit and going to be sue for breach of rental agreement. Well done Carl The Moon. You have ruined a person and his family.

The driver doesn't earn less if you pay by credit card as the extra 10% levy +8% GST will be added to the transaction. Why he wants cash payment is because they won't be a paper trail if he is caught. Look at the payment receipt if you still have it.

It is not just limousine taxi drivers that charge rates like this. When there are major events which jams up the area, regular cabs will also ask for premiums. These are often communicated verbally to potential passengers and not recorded. Note that it is not allowed and do not patronise these cabs.

I have reported and will report these cab drivers to the Land Transport Authority (LTA). These guys may be rich but that is not the point.

Which extra premiums are you referring to? All metered cabs are to issue itemized receipts.

Try flagging cabs after major events. Asking for a flat rate instead of the metered fare, is what some cab drivers do. Those are typically a premium on top of the metered fares.

You can actually choose not to pay in such situations and invite the driver to contact the police. See them scared shitless because it's against the law to charge without meter in taxis.

Old Law is now obsolete. Consumer has a choice to take or not to take. At least the $100 Limo is there to help people who are in a hurry or need to jump queue. There are also limo counters at Gardens By The Bay and MBCC and Airport Terminals and Resorts World Sentosa to provide the many rich people who are willing to spend in Singapore. Is not wrong helping Singapore to earn more tourist dollars from the more privileged. One day the alphard rental is $200. How to go by normal meter and earn from it? Is timely to enact law for provision of such services to be more accessible for people who need it. You do not expect a millionaire to queue and wait in a long of 50 people. Time is money.
