Hey coffee clan, this video is a little different than my normal content and that is because...I needed to get this out and tell my story. I feel MLM's are just icky and scam so many people. I don't like how they pray on people and so here's my story. Where I don't like ANY of the MLM companies I do still enjoy some of the products from a few of them. So this video is not about the products and if they work, it's about the companies. These are my views and personal opinions and are in no way geared to be nasty or mean to anyone. Please enjoy and don't forget to check out my social medias and online shop!
Leave comments down below on your experiences and I'd love to hear your opinions. As always please be respectful.

Out of all the trends I've seen on KZfaq in the last 10 years, the anti-mlm trend has to be my favorite. I hope it continues for a long time because people NEED to know the truth about these predatory companies and their huns. There have been far too many victims and they need to be stopped.

@@melissasavino2377 I loathe mlm's. I fell for one(Melaleuca) way back in 2003/04 and my upline had me doing all kinds of irresponsible things and wasting money to "grow my business". They convinced me to try to sell their crap to my grandfather who had cancer at the time. I honestly thought it could help him so I bought it for him myself when he didn't want to buy it. Many of these things really make me sad. My experience has not been like this. A lot of things that you were told to do are absolutely NOT required to do and it is so shameful that the director that you had trained her people to say things to pressure you. I cannot believe that they told you to tell your friends that they didn't support you because they didn't buy. This is disgusting. Please know that many of these things are not company endorsed and individual directors or consultants are misrepresenting things. Durin company official trainings they are very careful to tell us not to misrepresent.

My wife is watching this video sitting next to me and I heard the words "Mary Kay crap" which prompts this comment. To Melissa, it's sad that you PROBABLY didn't read Mary Kay Ash's autobiography and recognize how different Mary Kay's philosophy is from the leadership you were exposed to. Re meetings, it costs next to nothing to meet a potential customer knee to knee and explain the products. Within a consultation, you have the opportunity to provide value to your customers and that builds loyalty. Sorry this happened to you.

This training that she did was all wrong, you only get a Store, if you want to Sell product!! I knew I wanted to sell when I signed up!! I love Retail! I love to pamper people! My first party with my Sister, her mother in law, her sister in law and a couple of more people was $200 back in 2003! Get lead jars placed in businesses, get referrals from your parties!! Seems to me that you got excited and then realized that you didn't have the personality to talk to people, tell them about inventory. That made you feel uncomfortable. My National has the girls set up 5 -8 parties in a 2 week period and then places her order for her customers that she needs! I have team members that have done just an active order of $225 or just a $600 of already sold product!! I got my down payment for my first 🏠, $ for vacations!! Because I have appointments, take the trainings, do makeup, makeovers, I just sold $200, in a $15 minute period , half of that money is mine. I used to use Clinique from the mall years ago!! Now my sister and my mom are still on the products 20 years later. I'm happy you found the Nanny job. I work doing facials and mini pampering Satin hands sessions! People love it! They can tell I love it! I'm sorry you got people that were pushy!! Mary Kay didn't want us to be pushy but just fill people's needs!!! That's why I have my potential customers fill out a skin care profile!! I find out what needs they have and then have them try products, and let them buy what they want!!! I'm there to consult and help them feel great 🎉the other benefits follow! I'm a full -time teacher and a mom of three. I have to put up with a lot from students today! I thank God for my business ❤️🙏 gives me a very creative outlet! I'm working to build it up more. I have driven the Pontiac Vibe before, I'm hoping to earn my second 🚗

I’m so sorry you had that experience. The unit I’m with does not do that. I have never been pressured to do anything I did not want to do. I have never been pressured to invest, recruit, vendor markets, or anything. I do not have a team and they do not question me about it. It’s always what I choose to do and they support that. Unfortunately , just like any other company, a good thing in the wrong hands gets exploited for personal gain. I’m sorry they made you feel that way. That’s not what Mary Kay Ash would want them to do. That’s not the reason she started the company. It’s too bad that you came in contact with people like that. I assure you we are not all like that.

I cringe at the amount of money that I have potentially wasted. Thanks for sharing your story. And yes, asking people/strangers to try your product is painful. I want to go back and apologize to everyone I bothered. I joined my sister-in-law's team and have started to feel the resentment from her since I told her I was done.

I had the same instinct - wanting to apologize to everyone I harassed while I was in. And I’m so glad I didn’t ever make red jacket. I think harassing family/friends to buy, having to walk up to random strangers compliment them and then try to sell a brand, and them pressuring you to make sales/buy inventory is all a horrible combination. This has been happening forever Idk how they still sucker people in. I believe when they first came out it probably was really successful but now there are Sephora's, Ulta's, and Drugstores etc to buy a variety of products if you were not in on ground floor then it's hard to turn a profit. Also almost everyone I know is having a hard time in life right now the last thing I would want to do is force them to buy something they don't really need.

I've been in Mary Kay for 14 years, the first 5 years I was really gung ho and was a Red Jacket and blah blah blah. I now just do personal use but over the past couple months I've wanted to cut the cord more and more. I do like the products, mostly the skincare. But there are SO MANY great products out there and it's not hard to find something comparable. I've been ordering once or twice a year for the products I use so that is all find and good but like I said, more and more companies are coming out with good quality products and MLMs make me cringe. I will not and refuse to recruit people. I think if someone asked me to join I would decline and send them to someone else. I hate that if you are inactive you need to order a minimum of $250 in product to get the discount. I think this was a good company years and years ago before MLMs became big, but the market is so saturated now and businesses like these are becoming scammy

I tried trying Tranont and all they did was provide services you don't need and the only way to make any money is by signing people up. No products, only services. At least at the time anyways (2016). And it just was not very pleasant because I felt like I was stealing from my friend when I they signed up for me. Made me so sick I canceled both of our memberships and decided to pay the friend back. Multi-level marketing is definitely not the way to go. Thank you for speaking out about this one. The guidelines set bu the FTC is that 80% of their sales need to be to retail end users of product not inventory loading the companies own distributors. I think the lobby groups and the DSA aren't going to be able to keep buying their way out of the fact that their just is not a legal ethical way to run an MLM business because they all depend on constant recruiting to remain sustainable and the internet has brought them huge fast growth but it has also become their undoing because it's so easy for massive amounts of people to band together and force legislatures into action for consumer protection.

I once "won" a free makeover for me and a friend and the woman wouldn't stop texting me! I just kept saying, "I'm busy, sorry!"

They over push Inventory. My Director is the worst for it. I don't really want to sign anyone up under her, because she is so greedy. Pushing people into $3000.00 - $6000.00 in inventory. I never fell for it. Inventory is a waste of money. skincare and makeup Inventory is only good for 6 months. 1. 2. 0r 3 years. After that it expires. Where i live, it only takes 3 days for NEW MK products to be delivered to me. New is better then old. If you are going to get into MLM businesses, invest in testers. If a customer can see it, try it, they are more likely to buy it. If you can try it, you are more likely to sell it. If you can find customers, that aren't scared of Consultants.

Yes, invest in testers and direct ship products to customers THEN if/when you build a large enough customer base to support an inventory have a small inventory. That is a SMART way to work business. I wish more direct sales leaders in all businesses would train like that. More people might actually succeed if they did.

It s really really awesome, that you made this step!! :) And btw. I do not often say this, I honestly hate it, when people say "be proud of yourself" or something like this to every person, who ....I don t know... who f.e. speaks about their depression or post a picture from their body, when they are overweight or so. I became Mary Kay with the old wives' tale "extra income", with extra income you go into debt. Everything is beautiful and pink, you can do it! After three months working as a consultant, I realized that you bother people, deceive people, take on debt to stay on the program. The person who puts you through this is the one who wins, and leaves a trail of people in debt. You lose if you don't participate in the programs, in the programs you support the company. The illusion of mothers who are working from home. She's at home but she can't keep her mind on her children, she pays people to stay with them (that was the example I had), she was bitter towards her husband and her marriage, she thought she was superior than others.

Thank you for your honesty. I've been in for 25 days and am already experiencing the same sentiments. What bothers me the most is the supposedly "God first, family second, and career third." I don't see that in the KZfaq videos of top producers. I see power hungry boastful women that only talk about getting more earthly stuff (power, money, and cars.) They throw God in somewhere to sound Christiany. It comes off like a pink sisterhood cult. I've prayed about how I can do the business and make money to help my family without getting sucked in to the pink hype. I think I will go active and get what I want for myself and hang low. If I make sales, great. If not, I'll go inactive and not worry about. I pray all is well with you and your family.

I always found it to be mega creepy when everyone at the meetings were always cheery and bubbly. I would just sit there like, "Am I surrounded by aliens or something?" Plus, I always felt violated when they sat next to me all cult-like... Also, they would take my hand, and say how beautiful I was...I would be thinking, "Woman, if you don't get your damn hands off me..." Not recommended for anti-social or people with a good heart. I have been with Mary Kay for 3 years and have always treated it as a side hustle, getting into it I purchased about $2000 and made about $6000 my first year. After that like you I had done the conventions and booths and made alittle money from it. I do have about 6 customers that order from me now. And that's pretty much it. That pretty much keeps me active and some months I'm not active. When my Director moved out of state that's when I did my fade out. I don't need to go to meetings I'm not trying to build a team. I keep track of my sales if you do $1000 you have to claim it. It has saved me a few hundred dollars in taxes. When Stacy did her fade out that's when you should have done yours. Great Story !!

Thanks for sharing - I think you presented your story well, so please don't feel like this isn't a good video! There are some in MLM who will blame the person for failing because they perceive them as being 'lazy', but you obviously put in real time, effort and financial resources into this and still didn't reach the level of success that they promise. I'm glad that you were able to bounce back from the experience - some MLM prey is not so lucky. Out of all the jobs and businesses I've done in my life, MLMs are the the only ones that really made me feel gross as a human being and I think that's a really big tell for how these things function at a fundamental level. Some are better than others, but when a huge percentage of 'training' is devoted to being a huge PEP TALK to get yourself into the mindset of taking advantage of your relationships with people, then there's something really wrong there.

They target enclosed communities that have strong influence over their members. Religious groups, mommy groups, military spouses, basically any decently large and tight-knit group. People are less likely to pull out if they risk the wrath of the community, not just one or two Hunbots. Plus it gives enough people to get a foothold. The more successful the first few in the community are, the easier to get and hold the rest of the community. They then have a decent amount of people singing it's praises making it seem more legit to those outside the hub. It's how they keep growing and convincing folk after saturating their hub. And they will do anything to reach these folks because their identity and place in their MLM community is so combined, they have to. It's social and financial suicide to fail. I need to make a vid one of these days on how this shit makes the monsters we see. Never buy from an MLM, they are all susceptible to this bullshit

Not all of them are pushy...I wasn't pushy because I didn't care to grow an empire...I just wanted to sell product. But, yes some can be pushy. I hated seeing some director's pushing young newbies to get a credit card and go into debt. I never had to pay for a meeting! That's ridiculous!

MLM’s are all the same. I remember when I went to “convention”, I knew I didn’t fit in - I wasn’t dressed like the others, I didn’t enjoy the speakers, I missed my family, and I felt pressured into spending soooooo much money. It was actually “convention” when I realized I needed to get O U T ! Our poor husbands. Bless them for wanting us to be happy, but seeing how annoying and stressed out we were. For anyone thinking of selling sh!t - just go apply somewhere and make it straight up! Don’t waste your precious home time on MLM!!!

So happy I wasn't this 😦. Very sorry for your story. Paying for a meeting? I wonder if Mary Kay knew a rep was doing this?

I believe you would like the channel The Recovering Hunbot. She was a Beachbody "coach" and is 100% anti-MLM.

I am stuck in mk. My eyes are opening and I've been watching all of these anti mlm videos to get the courage to walk away. I have so much inventory and put my money in to be active :(

The Stacee girl that you’re not blaming shouldn’t have pushed you to get a $3000 inventory. My director does not push people to get a $3000 inventoryAnd she was wrong for doing that

I agree, I don’t care for MK’s recruiting tactics and the “requirement” for inventory. But please know that not all direct sales companies are like this!

So sorry this happened to you!! I ended up over $10K in debt bc of MK! That wasn’t fun….thank God my hubby is so amazing! I was told the same things….‘you’ve got an atm at all times’ (in the form of inventory that no one wanted!!) SEMINAR?! Yeah that was EXPENSIVE and honestly, just another way to pump you up about buying more products, and pushing harder for recruitment and sales!
