As a Brazilian I can... kinda explain why Pedro Rodrigues didn't got more years in prision... it's because our laws prevent anyone from being imprisoned for more than 30 years in a row... i'ts kinda fucked up, but to someone be locked up for more than that it need to have more than one case and they must be judged separately... if not even if their crimes go 100+ years it will equal to 30 years at best...

As a Dutch woman, I still can’t believe that Japan never charged him. For people like my grandfather who also was put in a Japanese camp during WWII it was yet another spit in the face by the Japanese government. I still like Japan and wish to visit one day, but good god the country really isn’t the utopia a lot of weebs think it is.

As a brazilian I can say that the reason Pedro only stayed ~30 years in prison is because brazilian law at the time didn't allow inmates to stay more than 30 continuous years in prison (now it's 40 years). We don't have life sentences. Technically, Pedro was sentenced to 126 years in prison, but after 30 years he was released.

Hearing about mr. Anime no matter the year always feels so surreal to me. Cause when what he did dropped I was a mess. I lived a two hours away from where he did when this went down and I had no idea. People I followed at the time like, BionicSlime I had no idea who knew him came out to make videos explaining what they learned, and delete any and all videos of him in it or mentions of him. As well as fans making video responses over what he did, cause they needed people to talk to about it over hearing what he did. I cried over this for 4 day and my BF who I told all this too was mostly shocked to find out how close this tragedy too place. It was almost a week, but my bf was a great support and did the only thing he could and that was give me videos that made me laugh, which did help at the time. Now as a fully grown adult I am still shocked over what Mr. Anime did to his family and almost did to students at a school. I am just glad he got life in prison, cause he dose not deserve to be set free.

Pedro Rodrigues AKA "Pedrinho Matador" is from Brazil. Here we don't have life sentences. The most you can serve is 30 years with 5 extention. His sentence was over 100 years, but by law he only need to serve 30, and got the extra 5 for bad behaviour. He is free now because brazillian law defines that time in jail as maximum.
