What is the difference between Exposure vs Brightness vs Gamma? When do you use them? What do they actually change?
In this beginners tutorial I show you the difference in a very simple way

i came here to differentiate things with my eyes, and I see a guy trying to teach me with plots and graphs, like lol, I can't actually easily differentiate with my eyes, if it's gonna need a graph along with it too. But still, I think it was pretty informative to know when does black fully occur, that gamma darkens the dark area and the midtonal area (the area between dark and white), and keeps the white area more or less the same, and that line being 45% meant that equal parts of dark columns and white columns were present, and the line getting curved meant that, more parts and not equal parts of darkness or white columns are present, other things I don't know if I have understood at all, but watching it again might help. Thanks btw, I have a better understanding than when I came before, for that I give thanks. XD

Thank you. You might have misunderstood the purpose of this video. This is not about how to use these tools, it's about what differentiates them

Hi! I have a photo, there is a darker side where I want to make it brighter just for that part, how do I make it? Thanks!

This was informative. I am assuming gamma is a part of an exponent of a logarithmic equation. Is it?

Does setting the output values to 1 and 99 make a perceptible difference in the printout? I never fuss with gamma, no doubt because I don't really understand it. This is an excellent demonstration, particularly the use of the gradient. Not sure why I haven't studied it more.
@OlivioSarikas
@OlivioSarikas 3 жыл бұрын
maybe not perceptible per se, but it can look strange if areas of a print are 100% black or just plain white paper - unless that is intended

Ich kann es dir nicht mit Sicherheit sagen, aber zumindest bei Exposure habe ich gelesen das das verschiedene Software Tools verschieden auslegen.

So the scope just averages the colors in the images as vertical bands then? O.o
@OlivioSarikas

It gives you a representation of how much color and brightness is at a given point on the width of the image. That can be a very nice help to see how much you can still adjust the image, without going over the edge where it starts to clip or where it might look to bright or dark on other screens

I don't know why in order to explain them you brought a entirely new thing "curves" into it like hey, it moves the curve as if we're supposed to know what that means to begin with?? Real bad call.
