Brazil is a country of both the superlative and also amazing contrast, with dynamic metropolises, cultural centres and untouched nature. It is the largest country on the South American Continent.We begin our journey in Rio De Janeiro, the secret capital of Brazil, a veritable firework display of unashamed joie de vivre, football, samba and religion. The focal point of today’s Rio is the monumental glass cone of the Catedral Metropolitana that measures eighty metres high and looks like a Mexican pyramid. The Rua Do Ouvidor, with its elegant old buildings and splendid shops, is a reminder of the city’s historical and commercial importance. Portuguese settlers founded the city and sugar cane and gold made Rio’s colonial rulers extremely rich. In former times the coastal towns were protected by fortresses and canons. Paraty was one of those romantic locations, south of Rio on the Costa Verde, a gem dating back to Brazil’s colonial times. Around five hundred kilometres north of Rio and deep within the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, is a most remarkable place. Ouro Preto was discovered at the end of the seventeenth century by Portuguese gold prospectors who discovered ‘black gold’ that changed colour due to its iron content. São Paulo is one of the mega cities of the twenty first century and with a population of twenty million it is the economic heart of Brazil. The railway helped to transport cotton and later coffee, and its large station, with British-designed clock tower, became an important symbol. Brazil is synonymous with sunshine, samba and exotic nature, a dream destination full of both adventure and constant fun!

Olá. Eu estou usando Traduz Google, eu apoligize por eventuais erros. Como está o crime no Brasil? Já ouvi falar de toneladas de histórias sobre decapitações e policiais corruptos e tal. Será que vou ser seguro se eu visitar um lugar como São Paulo ou Rio?

John Marston Depend brazil is like a mexico the mostly of deaths is because a drug trafficking.......security for tourists is much better than the normal people but of course if you from europe or US you have to be careful with cameras and walk alone in the night ,sorry for my bad english too U.u

I wish the narrator pronounced the names of places as close to the way it is pronounced in Portuguese so we can figure out what it is that he is talking about. The rest this video is very good!

In Portuguese (and Spanish), the location of the accent mark is where the stress should be. Thus, Cuiaba should be kwee-ah-BAH, rather than kwee-AH-bah. The falls in the SE are pronounced ee-gwah-SUE or ee-gwah-ZOO, depending upon how it's spelled, not ee-GWOT-sue.

If you like nature, you should also check Iguaçu Falls, one of the new 7 wonders of Nature! I've been there twice and It's AMAZING! Also check the Itaipu Dam which is the biggest producer of energy in Brazil and Paraguay!

Not the Northeast. But Northeast is a cool region, most brazilians travel there. Bahia is an african state, Ceará is a state with beautiful beaches, Pernambuco the same of Ceará. I would choose Fortaleza to go! The South region is very cool too, its a region with beautiful cold forest. Santa Catarina have cities like Blumenau, Pomerode and Joinville, Rio Grande do Sul have the city of Gramado. Its a region populated by germans and its cool to see how they live there.

The word is Amazonas, rather than Amazonias or Amazonhas. Thus, there's no "ias" or "yahss" sound following the 'n', just "ahss" or "us", depending upon how you want to anglicize it. Portuguese would be ah-ma-ZONE-ahss, which is the name of the monstrous state which takes in the entire Brazilian portion of the Amazon basin, and is roughly the size of Alaska.
