First and foremost, he’s a really good wicket keeper. His ability with the bat has been an added bonus! Especially with the top 3 struggling at times!

I saw the news that the last test is only 3 days , it’s not a problem as neither side has the ability to play out the full time anyway

The latest conjecture is that Johnny Bairstow will keep wicket when he returns to the England Test side. As good as Bairstow is this would be extremely harsh on Foakes, who has been excellent in both disciplines at Test level. Harry Brook is undroppable already and Ben Duckett making way for Bairstow as opener would be a big call also, though not as seismic as leaving out Foakes, I feel. That said, this is a good problem for England to ponder.

I haven't seen anyone who hits more shots false shots than Foakes and gets away with it. Plenty of others of better quality have lost their wickets to those drives or cuts that slide past the keeper and go to fine leg BUT he got a century and the record books just want to know the number not the detail.
