Extend the battery life of your LevelMatePro RV Leveler

In this video, we will be extending the operating time of our LevelMatePro RV Leveler by replacing the CR2032 battery with a longer lasting CR2450 battery. This project does require a slight modification to the LevelMatePro, but should be within the skill of many. One caveat though is that you will likely void the warranty for your leveler. Not applicable to the LevelMatePro+ leveler.

Outstanding video. I took your earlier advice and installed a 12v to 3v power converter. But for some reason the range on my levelmatePro decreased significantly. I will need to recheck the voltage coming out of my voltage converter.

Did you use a switching power converter? They can cause RF interference. In that previous video, I constructed a linear converter which should not intetfere with RF signals.

How do you keep it from going into sleep mode? I did the mod and still need to power off and back on to make it work.

I just had a thought... I've been contemplating something like this but when comparing the CR2032 and the CR2450, it got me thinking... what about a 123? A 123 battery also has a nominal voltage of 3.0 VDC but instead of 235 mAh or 620 mAh, it has a capacity of 1500 mAh, more than 6 times the capacity of the original battery. Obviously, the drawback is the battery would have to be located outside the original box, but I'm thinking I could buy a 123 battery holder and print a small box to house it in. This would last a LOT longer than the original battery and could be made to be easier to replace. As I've seen posted here, a buck converter may be creating RF noise but as the operating voltage is the same, that shouldn't be an issue.

of just get a pro + and wire it directly to the campers 12vdv system

I did this video because many people (including myself) bought the non-plus system, either not aware of what the extra $30 gets you, or before the pro+ was available. Adding a $5 battery holder is a lot less expensive than buying a pro+ after owning the pro.

@@RVProject if you contact level mate they'll actually offer you a + on discount then you can sell your original level mate.

I just wired my non-plus version directly to my 12v battery bank with a step down 12v-3v converter.

@@joshhaas2410 I actually have a video showing the construction of a 12V-3V linear power supply to do just that. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oalgh62jspqXd4U.html While you can use a typical converter from Amazon, they tend to be switching supplies, which introduce RF noise and reduce range. I will also be releasing a new project soon that I am calling the Leveler Controller, which will allow you to not only power the leveler, but also to turn it on or off remotely - from the cab of your tow vehicle.

@@RVProject I noticed that was coming and will enjoy watching it for sure. While at first I was a bit annoyed having to cycle the power switch off/on after the trailer sat idle for a while I honestly don’t mind it at all now. I installed the leveler in a very accessible place where my front storage door is open when doing the pack-up regimen so I’ll probably leave it as is. Ya never know, maybe I’ll get bored and need another project. Hahaha I absolutely LOVE the level mate pro. I haven’t noticed any signal or distance issues using it with my setup.
