Extended Shock Towers installed on a K5 Blazer!

In this episode of Uinta Garage, we install a set of extended shock towers and inner C supports with integrated shock mounts from DIY4X.com. These are used to compliment the long travel leaf spring suspension on our first gen Jimmy. They turned out great and the addition of 14" travel Fox shock increased the performance of the suspension. We added bump stops and they can be seen in the video. The ones in the video are just regular foam ones and will probably wear out fast. Air or hydro bumps will likely come soon

any concerns on welding to the cast iron Cs of the axle? I have the same kit, waiting on time to weld it up, and ive been reading up on welding to cast iron. risk of cracking if you dont heat/cool it properly before and after the weld.

On everything that I’ve read and confirming with a grinder test, the inner C’s are cast steel. This means welding should be more lenient. Heat is still a good idea and controlling the cool down helps the weld as well, but not as important as with cast iron. We did take steps and even showed after wrapping the axle to help retain the heat longer as it cooled.

I'm about to burn in my shock towers from diy4x. I have the same set up. B52 with ez inches. Since you've done the flex test. And we have the same set up. What are yalls shock length? Thanks. Keep the videos coming. They help me a bunch on my build

We used Fox Partnumber: 985-24-055 They are a 14” travel topped out at about 35” and compressed at about 21”

Yall me again. Are yall running the front sway bar when not offroad or the trails. I to do the quick disconnect for ORD but I no longer have the stock spring plates to bolt to it. Any suggests on fabbing something up to the spring plate from DIY4X? THANKS YALL
