Good video but you left a very important piece of information. The washer is called a “reducer washer” that would cover the gap between the 1 1/4 inch and 1 1/2.

Yes. My question is exactly that. My extension to p-trap doesn't have a washer like the one you placed there at the end and is leaking. I think it is missing because it is so snug there, I don't see how a beveled washer would fit.

my ptrap is the 'metal/chrome' kind. can you use that extension in to that? it seems like you can because it really is just a washer that is holding the seal. so other than aesthetics it should work? is there a chrome extension to go along with the chrome ptrap?

Ok, try this one good sir. No leaks.... until I took the pea(sp) trap off to get it un-clogged. So the clog is gone but it leaks now. Even bought a new gasket. Tried just hand tightening it, it leaked, then tried a loose fit, it leaked. Tried also to really make it tight and it still leaks, please help. thank you,,,,,,,

What if the tail pipe is too long and the pipe to the outside waste is too low?

For heavens sake, how does one extend the wall tube (P-trap arm) and not the tail piece? All of the wall tubes/P-trap arms are 7" or 8.5" long only. Too short for a utility sink. Only arms I've seen so far that are longer are the chrome plated ones. Nothing in plastic/PVC?

My problem is that my new sink does not line up with existing pipe from the wall. Even though I've turned the p-trap as much as I can to the left. It connects but is not straight and therefore leaks. I haven't seen anything for this situation, when the new sink is too far left or right from the homes existing pipe in the wall. Any suggestions?

They make flexible p trap extensions, plan B you can heat up pvc and bend it any way you choose just try not to mangle up the ends of it

Little Help Bro, I am by no means a plumber, but I've done basic stuff in the past. I ahve a pedastal sink, and I've got all my water lines and drai connected. My issue is: My house is 100 plus years old. The drain system is the old cast piping. The wastes has a nut, and thats it. I'm trying to run the tail piece into the opening with the new plastic fittings. In the past, I just ran the tail piece into the pipe, but know it leaks like crazy. Is there some kind of adapter I can add, that will allow me to use the newer modern day fittings to avoid this leak. It would have to be an outside fitting, not a screwd in fitting. Make sense ?

I got it. Pulled that nut off and just loaded it up with plumbers putty. Tight as a ducks ass !

my drain is 1 1/4" my extension is the same dimension can I extend the 1 1/4" tail into a 1 1/2" p trap or shall I change the tail piece extension to 1 1/2" thx

I hope you have done your job. I have the same issue. So what you just had to do is get the extension tail which would 1 1/2. Also he should have mention that we have to buy an extension washer which would hold no a 1 1/4 but hold a 1 1/2. So this washer will fit 1 1/4 but would be larger in order to hold and secure the rest of the 1 1/2.
