I have been running Mechman alternators in my rides for about 3 years. They turned out to be the best alternators i have ever used! I have yet to break one and they put out MASSIVE power. Great customer service too.

this system is an SQ system. Probably the cleanest i have ever owned. It has a lot of power but its not about bass, its a complete package.

good to see the quality harman kardon amp on your home system i had one 2 years ago but it got destroyed in a electrical storm, cable tv in the street took a lightning hit and it popped the video board......got my dd-1 and cc-1 delivered to AU 3 weeks ago and haven't stopped using them!......I have seen the Alt's on a lot of new vehicles controlled in the pcm

ya, i did.......but something in the car is preventing it from changing. I am sending in the harness and my stock alt for them to experiment with and find out why. I am the guinea pig on this one, but happy to do so. They benched it @ 15v so i know it can make that no problem at all, just gotta find out why the car wont let it happen.

I'll put it simple for you brother...The amps that get drawn from your system when blasting tunes gets pulled and drains down low... A higher more stable amperage will keep it more efficient and less likely to have blow outs (fuses etc... ) therefore, A high output alt will increase amps and keep your charging system ready to rock. Hope that helps a bit. If Steve or anyone else can add to this and help you out, that would be great.

The ISF by far. Who wouldn't though, the Tahoe is great but it is 12yrs old almost...i drive it every week at least once, if its nice out. Its easier to keep it pristine that way too. You can literally eat off my suspension its so new and clean.. and i like to keep it that way :D

I would have to say, if this hasn't been mentioned yet, most cars now a days have a PCM controlled voltage regulator. The computer in the car is what's stopping the adjustable boost module to be raised. Found this out with my ford. Has the same issue. Good luck dude hope you can get it sorted. As always great work in everything you do.

unless you send 12v to the remote wire...then you can go above 16 on the main power inputs. It looks at the remote :)

i have about 7,000 watts total in my system. It takes power to make power though. Also have 4 batteries.

i can probably bypass just fine, but the battery light on the dash illuminating is the problem i need to avoid. Can't have a car like mine with dash lights blinking everywhere :D

I have a 2012 civic si with a new alternator. We bypassed the PCM regulator and have the adjustable voltage accessory hooked up and just a one wire charge line to the batteries. Only thing is battery light is on but that's because the plug wasn't used.

The voltage is most likely regulated on the ecm. I have a Dodge that had to have a custom flash to accommodate the custom alt. Hope this helps.

take what out? its still in. Its just a little pig-tail on the harness that has the adjuster on it. I am fine, just need them to find out why the harness isn't working and if the car is the reason or not.

ya i switched to my iphone 5. Then during rendering it kept freezing on me so the mode i had to use made it look interlaced in some spots. Oh well, its just an onboxing and install vid, no real action :D

cars like mine, withOUT 350lbs of sound in the trunk, do about mid 11's with NOS (and the other bolt-ups) and mid 12's stock.

im only curious if you adjusted the pot in the harness once installed i know they said it was set to a certain voltage but ya never know thats all it came out good and the vm was barely moving lol thats pretty dang good in my book

a 1000v2 is not enough power for an SMD sub. It will sound good but will be hungry for much more.

voided the alternator warranty probably. Who cares, they are the best alternators made even before i upgraded it. Lexus/Toyota alts are the best out there period.

My alternator took 20 minutes to swap out on my Foxbody and all I needed was two wrenches. You needed a lift just to get to yours. I feel your pain, bro. Lol

Also I've stated in another comment on another vid it's computer controlled. The pcm won't let the voltage step up unless there is heavy load.

Sounds like you need to get your ecu reflash. If I'm right your voltage regulator is in your ecu. So by reflashing your ecu you can have them set your voltage higher

nahhh i won't.....its all in the little pig-tail harness that comes with it. Has an adjustable screw on it to raise/lower voltage. The alt works fine, but the car itself is not wanting to cooperate. Stock was around 13.1v, 178a benched so now i am @ 13.7 278a (benched)......its MUCH better then it was but we are working on the 15v thing as i type. Either way, this car is more about the SQ then sub-bass so its no hurry.

I have a 2010 Infiniti G37s and I just ordered a mechman alternator which I need a slightly smaller serpentine belt and how do you get your stock wiring to let you run the max out of the alternator??

Mr Meade, don't misunderstand me i totally agree, wish i could get one for my system. I just meant what with all the extras you have done (which are great by the way), that Toyota/Lexus would void the warranty on the car and it would be out of you pocket if something would go wrong (being the brand it is i would not expect that). Was not sure how that worked with them?

Hope you remembered to put that bottom cover back on! That is a fiddly job but at least you didn't have to remove the engine or anything daft. Shame it didn't fully work but I'm sure you'll work it out :)

Maybe the alternator dont put out as much voltage in idle? What do u think? or what was the problem?

I believe you can bypass it and make it function like an older style alternator by using just an exciter wire which just tells it to kick on voltage. Try running a nice load on it first and see if that will do anything. I've never messed with newer type alternators so don't quote me on anything.
