I’m glad I started finding some Wheaties cards. Half my body mass came from eating wheaties as a kid! Never saw the 82 cracker jacks!? Love the full size!

It still amazes me how many cards made Jefferson Burdicks American card catalog long before the internet. It seems like a very small number of pre-war set that exist that aren't a T, N,W, E etc.

Right! He must have worked very hard at that!

That Hans Lobert story was from the Lawrence Ritter book, The Glory of Their Times. Do yourself a favor and buy the audio version. Amazing to hear Hall of Famers like Sam Crawford and Rube Marquard talking baseball. Hans Lobert, Smokey Joe Wood, Fred Snodgrass, Chief Meyers, and Rube Bressler are also featured prominently. Love seeing your cards. Thanks for sharing.

Man all of that is so incredible. That Kenneth Williams image is a beauty. Love all the early golf too. You know what doesn’t make par? 4 terrible shots and 3 putts. Don’t ask me how I know. I would say I don’t care, but that’s a lie. Oh well, more money for cards.

Interesting question for you. The back of your 1917 cards clearly show "Baseballs hall of fame". The HOF was founded in 1936 if I recall. Some sort of a delorean / time travel situation? Curious the story on that if you happen to know
@MrJmangini4 күн бұрын
Yes that has perplexed me as well. I think they used that term prior to it being an actually thing but I really don’t know. I like the idea of time travel though.

Nice share John. I remember seeing the Cracker Jacks after the fact and apart like the signed Bob Feller but I don’t remember how they were distributed? Were they inside the rectangular boxes of caramel corn? The Buck Weaver is great, reminds me of one of my favorite movies of all time, Eight Men Out. Buck fought to clear his name with MLB for being implicated in the Black Sox scandal in ‘19 & for the next 37 years until he died in 1956 he fought for his innocence. The Walter Hagen reminds me of another great movie “The Legend of Bagger Vance”. When Walter Hagen hooks one over the sand dunes into the ankle deep tide pool and miraculously hits one back onto the green!
@MrJmangini4 күн бұрын
I believe you sent in for those sheets.
@brendanjobe72864 күн бұрын
Were the single cards inside the boxes as the “prize”?
@MrJmangini4 күн бұрын
You know I don’t know. I always thought they were only issued in those sheets. But I don’t for sure.
