1 John 4 Test the Spirits 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
@IluvantirАй бұрын
Best to complete that passage: 1 John 4:1-6 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

So true, I agree with the video whilst agreeing that God WILL give you signs: just not when you demand it and not when not entirely necessary. I have received signs when I was in a life changing situation and felt like all my powers are gone, physically and mentally, but that doesn’t mean I will get into a habit of searching for signs for any stupid decision in life I make. I see people go through life and use the phrase of God will shut/open the door for me, so they bump their heads against every door blindly and throw common sense out the door. That is not being spiritual that is just a combination of laziness, discipline and courage to try it out yourself!

Wow this literally answered my prayers. I felt like God wanted me to do something but thought what if it is my imagination, so said I won't do it without a sign and used Gideon as an excuse. I also remembered 'cursed are those who look for signs' but couldn't find it so thought I had made it up. Now you have shown me that God wants me to follow through and stop testing him. Thank you George and guests, God has corrected me through this. God bless you and thank you for the ministry.

Seeking wisdom and guidance and signs from God isn’t testing him. People confuse this and it’s frustrating. In Torah, the burning bush was a sign of God’s power. Jonah experienced signs of God. Abraham. Paul. The list goes on. The difference is praying for DISCERNMENT and being rooted in scripture.

My personal opinion is, that dont look for special sign as you said "yellow starfish" because than you will unconsciously look for that... my reason is for that: She tried her best to raise you and as you mentioned she also planted that love for God in you, with that in mind and heart you do already know she is safe. What I've learned is that signs from God are given, not searched out. Whenever I've looked for them, they weren't actually signs, they were just me hoping and wanting my prayers to be answered. But when God has actually given me signs, I was never looking for them, and I just *knew* they were from Him.
@DiamondHenry3212 ай бұрын
What didn’t resonate with me in this video was the part where he says that he and another pastor “laughed” when a different pastor stated that the book of revelations is just love. Laughing as if he was wrong or misinterpreted. The wrath of God in all of its fury - is love. He’s working his final plan through love , so that man was not wrong or worth being laughed at , he just had a different perspective. And that should always be welcomed when discussing the Lord.
@SaucystackАй бұрын
I think the interpretation of revelations the other pastor had was that revelations was a book of love to make it seem as though non believers or lukewarm Christians would inherit the kingdom of God because God is a loving ruler and provider because I’ve seen interpretations like that before.

@@MTB_mami again, scripture also says that the wise will know. Those who are rooted in scripture won’t fall for the miracles of false prophets and signs and wonders that aren’t of God. Instead of praying "Lord show me a sign" I pray that God would shut the door if He doesn't want me to continue in a certain direction. One instance there was a girl I was "dating" and I asked God to close the doors if this relationship isn't meant to be. The next day the doors were closed. Another time I wanted a motorcycle and because of how risky they can be I asked God to close the doors if this wasn't meant to be. I did my Motorcycle Safety Course and I was the worst student. Everyone else had bike experience but I did not. I thought for sure I would fail my skills test. I asked God just before the test to help me pass. I made a 100. Then when it came time to buy my motorcycle there was no dealer anywhere that had the bike I wanted. I called the closest dealer and asked to be put on the wait list for that particular bike and told them I'd be there tomorrow with the deposit. 5 minutes later the dealer calls back and tells me the exact bike I want just got delivered. Answered prayer. Everytime I'm on my motorcycle I'm thanking my Lord and Savior for answered prayer. It's all about a relationship with Jesus. Pray throughout the day.

When I really concentrate and block exterior noise out, I do get an at peace, joyful feeling.And I don’t want to stop reading or I get very emotional in his word. I’m trying to stay disciplined in reading scripture and trying to put those words into your everyday life. I recently(less than a month) made up my mind to let god take over the reins of my life instead of me trying to navigate my way on my own. I believe he has spoken to me in recent weeks and I have the faith that he has a plan for me and will guide me in the right direction as I strengthen my faith in him. Yea I have to disagree with that. I lost my scholarship to play football in 2021. I heard the Lord say lay it down I have something better. So, I did and I was going to kill my self a couple days later. I am sitting in the bathroom sobbing going if you are true about what you said send me a sign bc I am about to end it; 4 hours later I received a message from a trainer who trained NFL lineman. “Do you still want to play college ball”?. Let’s just say I accepted the Lords calling and have asked for signs if this is what he wants me to do. Mathew 7:7 -10. The thing is why would God not show you signs we have the Holy Spirit living in us. Meaning he wants a relationship and yes he does have a voice you just need to seek him above everything else. Paraphrasing the Lord is the best gift giver hence why wouldn’t he give us a sign if it is for him? All a sign is a gift going “good job” but your work is not done yet. Keep going…
@miguelv7653 ай бұрын
The Lord was teaching you virtues, particularly patience and trust, in this instance. He responded to your cry, but the lesson learned wasn't solely about asking for a sign. Rather, it was about recognizing that God will come through for you regardless of whether a sign is given. The virtues you gained that day hold greater significance than any signs that could have been provided. In the western churches, there seems to be a growing emphasis on charismatic practices, which George may have been alluding to. The crucial point is not to become a church focused on seeking signs and wonders, as this will lead to deception and make us a play thing for the demons. Instead, our focus should be on seeking the fruits of the Spirit and embodying the virtues of Christ.

Whilst I agree with the video I also agree with you, the ‘small’ difference is that God will give you a sign if you’re at the end of your powers: what you did was because you felt like dying literally, which is completely different than many Christian’s nowadays demanding signs from God every week for the stupidest reasons possible. God will intervene and He did in my life with a miracle but He will NOT intervene so that he makes your daily life easier, that is just promoting laziness.

I started looking into Christianity stuff cause I was bored at first. I've lived the majority of my life now as a nonbeliever and have only recently become more open to the idea of a higher being. I thought to myself and told my friends "it's pretty cool. I'd LIKE to believe in God and the angels and all that stuff. I just wish I could get a sign or something to really prove to me once and for all that it's all real". This went on for a while and then all of a sudden, one night during a dream, I saw the most horrifying, vivid vision of Satan. He infiltrated my dream and tried to attack me or drag me down to Hell or whatever he was gonna do if he caught me. Everything made sense in that moment. It was the most terrifying but also sobering wake up call I could ever recieve. That is why I am still grateful. God finally sent me that sign I was asking for. This is why I believe he DOES show you signs if he needs to. Because that's what happened with me.

I've asked God plenty of times for signs because I need to make sure that I'm hearing the right voice and understanding when it's the enemy when it's my own thinking and when it's God. I believe that God is patient and graceful with his children when they're learning to grow in hearing the voice of the Lord so it is okay to ask for a sign. But don't always assumed that you deserve one. If he gives it to you great, but if you don't get a sign that's okay just keep praying and seeking the word untill you have the knowledge and peace about whatever it was that you were asking God for.

It’s not about not asking for signs. It’s about where your faith and your heart is. God loves to reveal Himself to you and His plans for you. He doesn’t love doubt but He also accommodates it sometimes and gives you obvious signs to prove things completely. Doubt is the issue, not asking for clarification.

“I need a sign” is a statement of doubt, not faith. Very profound!

9:40 shows you that God is really real because ain’t it strange how we all feel that same feeling soon as we stop reading the word we feel empty and confused and can’t figure out what’s causing it when it’s actually the fact we are distancing from God

When I was 12 I didn’t believe in God and my mom dropped a ceramic bowl on the counter and one of the shards went 2 inches into her wrist about 3 inches wide as well. I got down on my knees and asked God for a sign that everything is going to believe okay and then I said I will believe in your for the rest of my life. I then stand up and a piece of torn paper comes slowly drifting down from the ceiling in a 1 story trailer home. I believe in my ignorance at asking for a sigh in the time God actually did choose to give me one for belief for my entire life. She went to the hospital and it was a millimeter from the artery in her wrist and it healed up all by itself before they could even get back to her room to stitch it up. God is great!

I was praying one night and my light on my nightstand turned on by itself. Anyone have any words on this? I knew the holy spirit was living with me when I began counting my blessing every day, when I became forgiving and full of love and released all the hate. That was the biggest change in my life. Before walking with the Lord there was NO WAY I would forgive those that wronged me. Now I ask so many people to try to forgive before its too late. But that was just me. I'm extremely grateful for what God has provided to me and all my fellow brothers and sisters walking this beautiful planet Earth that God has created for us to explore and enjoy. Amen.

There is a balance to this. Although he didnt know when is the day or hour, he knew the signs of his return. Its to acknowledge that its all in the heavenly father timing. We should keep our faith when looking for signs. So you shouldn't look for signs alone, you need to ask by praying and recieving word of god.

The humility of Jesus to know he is god in the flesh yet he was withholding powers/knowledge from himself that he could’ve had but felt that only the father our creator should have such powers such gifts

you don't ever want to ask for signs or seek them out for one reason. You are basically telling God that you don't believe him unless he proves it to you first For that reason it goes against you depending on only him. It's also why you see Jesus at times not wanting to perform miracles because if he only did them, they wouldn't receive the knowledge he was putting forward. They would just show up for a magic show and not realize he was giving them eternal life. Now does this mean that there are never signs no it doesn't. In fact it is one of the main ways he speaks with you.Again it is not good to ask God for proof but he will give you signs to encourage you, to console you, and to teach you.

It depends. I was an atheist for more than half of my life (when I began to believe), yet I was raised with Christian values, which I have always maintained. However, at some point in my adolescence, I stopped believing in God because I am a logical person, and science explained my entire worldview, so I didn't feel the need to "invent a god." As an adult, after much reflection, I came to accept that "maybe" God existed. It was then that I prayed to the universe, without faith but with sincerity, saying: "If there is any God in the universe, surely He is capable of seeing in my heart that I seek and have always sought the truth. If there is any God and that is the truth, I would like to know that He exists." The next day, at the university, a classmate arrived late, sat in an empty seat next to me, and said, "Here, this is for you." It was a Christian pamphlet that said, "Christ loves you." My classmate wasn't a believer; he wanted to throw away the paper he had been given and jokingly said that to me as he handed it over, to get rid of what he considered trash. I was stunned because less than 24 hours earlier, I had asked that if there was a God, He would let me know He exists. That was the starting point. From then on, I began to ask for more signs, always asking not with much faith but with sincerity: "Lord, if you really exist, you know I am extremely logical, skeptical; you know that just one coincidence won't make me believe completely, etc." And each time, I saw more and more signs. However, when my faith was growing but not strong enough-after all, coincidences do exist, or so I thought at the time-a lot of bad things started to happen in my life: the death of family members, the death of my pet, betrayals by friends, romantic failures, and academic failures. One blow after another to the extent that at one point, I couldn't take it anymore; I was considering suicide and crying inconsolably. At that time, I wasn't watching Christian videos and was about to lose the little faith I had left when a Christian video appeared in my KZfaq feed. A video that seemed out of place among the content I was consuming then and that seemed to speak specifically to me and the situations I was experiencing. That's when I became aware of spiritual attacks and that there truly is an entity out there seeking to destroy people who are getting closer to God. Being aware of this evil made me pray through tears and say, "Jesus, please help me. I can't do it alone. I no longer believe in myself to achieve my goals, but I will believe in You." The situation didn't improve immediately, but an inexplicable peace settled in my heart. A peace that was out of place. Since then, my faith has never been stronger than it is now. Currently, I know that God exists because there have been too many coincidences even for someone as skeptical as I am. I have no proof, but I also have no doubts. And if you're wondering, no, I no longer ask for signs because I empirically know that God exists. He has never appeared to me, but I notice His influence in my life, and I am convinced that the enemy wanted to destroy me because, as an atheist, things never went so badly. He probably didn't bother me because he knew he had me in his pocket. It was when I started to believe that things began to go wrong, and it was when my faith matured that I began to notice God's protection in my life and that inexplicable peace in the midst of storms, for it wasn't the first nor will it be the last, but now I know whom to turn to when it starts to rain. Now I get wet but I don't drown, nor do I forget about God on sunny days. Currently, I feel immense gratitude toward Him and can only say: Thank you, Lord, for holding me up and not letting me fall.

Signs have strengthen my discernment as well. And all the comments saying that Satan can give science as well. It’s different when God does it. The Bible says that we are His sheep and His sheep hear His voice. When you grow closer to Christ you start to recognize His voice. I always tell people that the sign is not what convinced me it’s the voice behind the sign. I know God‘s voice. The sign just solidifies it and gives me extra confidence to do the hard things God asks me to do because sometimes they are crazy lol. Like moving across the country with nothing. Signs have given me a chance to weed out the lies and noises that are not Jesus. They are truly a blessing. I have faith that’s stronger then the average Christian. I am not bragging, but this is true, and everyone around me even admits it because they can see it. I give full credit to asking God for signs. The reason I started asking God for signs in the first place is because He told me to. I didn’t even know that was a thing until He told me to do it. He specifically instructed me. And ever since then my faith has skyrocketed and my life has launched forward and I have done amazing things for the kingdom of God because the signs give me confidence in what I’m doing. The more confidence a Christian has in what they are doing and they know 100% that God wants them in this direction, you are able to give yourself and put 100% of your effort and confidence in the mission God has put you on. So if you have to ask God for a sign to give you that confidence so that you don’t hold back from your mission then do it. ❤️

Hey! I just want to encoueage you not to seek a feeling. Or seek a form of sensuality. But inatead to choose to be rooted in truth, regardless of how its feeling! That he loves you. That he will not leave you. That he will not foraake you. That he died for you. That you are filled with joy, peace,comfort, etc all the time. Because a5 any given moment holy spirit is fully alive inaide of you. Im jot saying that the feelings arent awesome, and incredible. But we seek the father and those rhings just haooen!

You can always ask God questions as He invites us to: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind." - James 1:5-6 (NIV) I have a biblically sound tutorial on my channel about how I receive immediate responses from God. Blessings friends

"Do not test God" is different than "dont EVER ask God for a sign of what to do or if you are sensing His presence." A humble prayer for sign of God's will is a good thing.

Question: ask it wrong to ask for confidence for future actions that feel like I’m ‘supposed’ to do? We see Jonah half heartedly warn the people of … (I forget the place) of God’s judgement but still succeed in the mission of bringing them back to God. We see Moses asking God to have someone else take the mission instead of him and God says to include his brother for the mission (if I remember correctly). I don’t want to test God but simply know it’s from God as if it was a command from God - like the 10 commandments we know it’s from God. Like we could think of some scripture to back up our actions but even the devil tried to temp Jesus with scripture as well (3rd temptation I believe).

Gideon was making sure that God was really telling him to do that and that he wasn't misunderstanding him. The stakes were high and the bloodshed would be his fault if he misinterpreted what God wanted him to do. So he asked for something impossible so that God could make it clear to him if he understands him. He was not doubting God he was doubting himself and took his responsibility and commitment to God seriously.

Speaking in tongues is real. All the gifts are still at work today. Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit doesn’t lose His power over the course of the past two thousand years. He is the same yesterday today and forever. We are not to grieve or quench the Spirit. Timothy was told to fan the flame (gift) and Paul speaks a plethora about the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts he gives us. 😊🙏

In the case of Gideon what seems to be different than what you guys referenced was the fact that, Gideon wasn't asking for a sign to believe in God;s EXISTENCE with the fleece, he was asking for a confirmation of sorts. Compare that to King Saul who just assumed, and you have a night and day difference. Going even further, not only did Gideon look for a sign, but also so did Jonathan, and so did Hezekiah. When it came to Jonathan, how would he know whether he was to take an attacking stance or a defensive stance to win that battle? The priests weren't right next to him like they were with King Saul, HENCE HE ASKED FOR A SIGN! Continuing, when you say "that's Old Testament" it's like, yea, 3/4th's of the bible is Old Testament lol. So while I'm not saying nothing changed since Jesus came (as that's obvious blasphemy), one has to be very careful when looking at the Old Testament. Honestly imo it could go either way, which leads me to believe it's one of those classic Ecclesiastes "there's a time and a season for everything" scenarios.

I appreciate your reasoning and thoughts on this. I think people get very black and white about things and sometimes its good to chew on the word if you will and let it process. I personally think there's a good amount of misinterpreting when it comes to old testament vs new. Jesus is the word made flesh and therefore does not contradict himself. I say all of that to say that the speaker in this video seems to have very "knee jerk" reactions/feelings towards the topics he is trying to talk about
