Thanks for sharing this fun topic. It's always fun to work with you guys :-). I saw a couple comments that I can respond to. Dawn detergent is commonly known to remove grease and tar from the exterior surface. There are other products but this is what I like to use. Only use this type of detergent if you plan on prepping a surface for wax otherwise it will remove your hard work. The exterior of your Airstream can be washed safely with an over the counter car wash soap, soft brush and micro fiber towels for drying. Regarding roof reseal... this needs to be inspected every year. Depending on how you store your Airstream or travel trailer your sealant may last longer. I store my Airstream inside and I expect to get 5 or more years of service from my reseal. You may live in the Arizona desert with direct sun exposure and may need to do this more frequently.

Thanks for a very good segment about Airstream maintenance. I don't own an Airstream, but the RV we travel in also has needs that are very similar so it was a great reminder that we need to care for the vehicle that makes life comfortable on the road.

You guys are veritable cornucopias of RV knowledge...:) It always amazes me how much New RV's cost & most aren't even built to be lived in 24/7. I watched a vid the other day on a 2015 Airstream. It was way over 100K. Keep up the good work. Enjoy the vids.....:)

Vinnie talked about jacking up the trailer to change a tire on a tandem axle, I never use a jack, simply run the good tire up on leveling blocks and the flat tire is off the ground and easy to change.......that’s how I do it😁

One of my buddies did what Vinnie did to his rig and MAN I CAN APPRECIATE the hard work that goes into that process. One thing he did to his unit was to use a product on his exterior called "shark Hyde" it's suppose to protect the aluminum a little better. Who know he did this process in the fall so results are still to be seen. Awesome video as usual thank you for keeping the content free and taking us with you!

Sean and Kristy -- Thanks for this vid on the kind of maintenance that is too easy to shy away from. It's time (this coming spring) to have our trailer resealed. We've got a more typical eastern TT but it's about 5 out of the factory and living in the great north, our trailer 'survives' through 4 months of sub 35 and snow every winter and then we do that 4.5 on the richter scale thing for 3 or so trips a year. So we're due to get a full inspection and probably a reseal around the roof components and windows lest evil water finds its way in. AND, our tongue (here's looking at U Sean) needs the sanding and repainting along with areas of the frame underneath. Our trailer did the winter show circuit a few too many times before we met it twice and purchased it. Ive been doing salt damage repair every year since and it's time to and and rustoleum the frame and tongue so it corrode-no-mo. Thanks again!!

Strong work. Enjoyed that segment because I am a super proponent of maintenance. FYI there is a great company in the Denver area called The Metal Company and they can build all types of RV related tanks and metal boxes. They have their own forms for creating them. I got lucky and found them when I needed to replace a certain profile of siding material for a panel on my trailer. They can create almost any type of corrugated panel made of aluminum.

Recently I received an ad for a new product for exterior finishing from metal and painted surfaces to fabric and plastics, and even leather. It is called Top Coat F11. It puts a slick finish that repels water and allows dirt and bugs, etc to be washed off or removed without rubbing and scrubbing. Plus, it makes the finish of painted or metal surface shine like diamonds. You should check it out. Kind of expensive but probably worth it. Have not tried it myself, but I am seriously considering its purchase.

Nice video! Just a tip on maintaining the exterior finish.....Dawn soap is great prior to all of the work Vinnie did, but should not be used after all of that laborious polishing. It will strip off the wax or other protection (which you should be using on clear coated panels). I reccomend optimum no rinse for use on your travels as you need very little water and it won't take up much space. Look up "auto fetish detail " on KZfaq, he has great recommendations for this product and has a video regarding an airstream as well. Happy travels!

I have dealt with inept repair personnel at RV shops. Some of them will tell me that i cannot get a part that I need because my rig is too old. A competitor will hand me product information with an 800 number and I get my part. The first shop refused to hire me even though I was way more knowledgeable than their current crew. I wound up doing all my own repairs and maintenance.

Hiya Guys, Thanks for the extremely high standard of quality in your videos, as usual. It really doesn't go unnoticed the amount of effort that goes into the editing etc.. I must admit that I find it hard to believe that in 2016 all the roofs in all the r.v's are flat where there are any opening to allow for a.c. Units, vents/fans and the other stuff to be fitted. This can only encourage any water to come in should there be a very small crack/hole. I wonder why the industry don't have curved edges that point upwards by three inches. This would allow all the a.c. Units and any fittings fit over any holes cut in the roofs more efficiently, and in turn, reduce the risk of water damage from the roof area. It can be a little more tricky with aluminium but not impossible however, there's no excuse for the rest of the industry that has one piece moulted roofs! The manufacturers appear to put profit before customer satisfaction and product quality.

While I am not an airstream person, this was very informative. I think many of the ideas are transferable to other RV's. In terms of your question on what we like in videos, the "how to's" like this one are great, but I also really like the location videos. Ideas of where to go in your RV, what you will find, what is best in a location are all great ways to build a bucket list of places to go in an RV; very helpful and interesting. I have been thinking about Halifax lately, have you ever been there? Thanks for all your great sharing!

Okay, guys - last night I was walking through Nirvana (Home Depot) and a question popped into my mind about a topic, and I haven't found that you've covered it previously. Here it is: What do you do to handle severe weather while camping? Not so much tornado fodder, I mean, but that too, right? What types of precautions and measures do you take in the event that you get caught somewhere in the wild, and the weather turns really bad. I'm still looking through your video library to see if you've covered this. So far, I've gotten back as far as the Gerald Ford administration-era episodes, but I'll keep looking. Calvin Coolidge, here I come!

Thanks for sharing. We have a Grey Wolf travel trailer, but the dream is to own an Airstream. Great video showing some of the important things needed to keep an airstream beautiful and functioning. :)

very good information. I saved it to watch again at a later time, as a refresher sort of. :)

I'd like to see you cover the options for RV'ers when emergencies arise on the road and you have to leave everything behind to fly home.

+Kevin Thomas Indeed, we have developed some expertise in that area and will likely do a video. But can you handle the blood and broken bones? ;)

+Long Long Honeymoon I've read about Sean's recent podiatric misadventures. I can handle a little blood and gore. Just edit in a "graphic content ahead" warning.

Great to see someone who obviously loves what he is doing. I'm assuming that the clay cloth would work well on a non airstream rv body?
