@Michael Felfe : It's pretty much the same for whatever added features you add on their website: www.hikertrailers.com . They start at the basic trailer and you pick and choose your features. Their prices for features are pretty cheap, compared with most makers. It's kind of a status symbol to have all the finest features and appliances, but these guys are trying to hit as low a price point as they can manage. I think Hiker Trailer has put more thought into not getting bogged-down.

We liked the more square design. With the square design the back galley does not eat into your sleeping area.

I haven't seen anybody hit the same price point for the features offered. And if you have a tow vehicle that isn't going to be behind the semi's in the slow lane on every single pimple of a hill, there's really no reason to waste money on high-dollar composites or aluminum chassis. These are tiny trailers that you'll barely notice you're pulling, unless you drive a Prius. You can armor-plate them, and you'd scarcely notice any difference.

Mary, off roading. I believe you would slide it off and put it in the trailer during travel. The one light in the rear was plenty bright and didn't seem to attract to many bugs.

@@MWDAdventures : I heard that there are more amber-looking lights that don't attract bugs like some LEDs will. Totally makes sense to carry some things underneath on the Interstate.

The basic concept of the teardrop is a bed inside a hard-wall compartment. But yeah, you could get a late-model used Rockwood HighWall popup tent trailer (HW 276 or HW 277) for around $10,000, and it comes with a shower, toilet, blackwater tank, heater, air conditioner... But it's not built to take much of a beating.
