Wow, shocking I came to the same conclusion about Ni and Ne. What's your type?

That's because both thinking processes work the opposite way. Ni is like an intuitive machine that finds the best or most probable scenario through probabilities whereas Ne uses intuition externally to find the different possibilities. This also results from the combination with Se for Ni and Si for Ne that are always underrated when it comes to intuition but intuition doesn't magically come from nowhere. Types with Ni observe the outside world to form their Intuition whereas types with Ne look inside them and their personal sensory experience of the world to find its various possibilities.

Well, when it's not fun it can be quite annoying and tiring, ngl.

To be honest, I feel like what you describe is more like Si than Ni especially the last part and it really describes me although I am Ne dom. I used to think I am a Ni dom but in reality, I just have developed Si. About the Ni doms being overwhelmed by too many options, I don't think Ni will even realize them. Based on my experience, they struggle to think outside the box compare to Ne user. They often run out of ideas and when I reminded them the alternatives, they're like "Oh, why didn't I see this? You're right". Si doms in my experience are very indecisive when stressed and very methodical. They are easily overwhelmed by choices and they narrow down options one by one just like you said. To sum it up, Si narrow down things one by one consciously while realizing the alternatives whereas Ni narrow down options subconsciously and disregard the alternatives(kind of like an automatic control system if that's make sense). Then again, maybe I'm wrong or people are just different.

@@GetRatio That's just because Ni is more similar to Si than people think. So it's still Ni. One is about the abstract, the other about what is concrete. Just like Se and Ne are actually quite similar as well. You can be assured that INxJs will realize all these possibilities, they just instinctively exclude most of them from their mind when they're not relevant, which is why they tend to be very anxious people and overwhelmed by so many ideas because it feels pointless if you'll never going to apply them and giving them the attention they deserve requires time. It's not because they struggle to think outside the box that they can't see these ideas however. It's not so that they struggle but that they don't want to because they precisely want to think in the box. By the way I noticed the exact opposite from Ne users. They tend to have a hard time thinking like most people from experience. Ni users they just voluntarily ignore most of the possibilities because they don't see them as worthwile and don't find them interesting unlike Ne users. They can run out of ideas because they only keep the well crafted ideas and they're looking for the best ideas that are more guaranteed to be successful. They also refine their ideas, which is something I've never seen Ne users do. You don't find ideas that will be a game changer every day. But Ni users are constantly looking for it. So when you remind them the alternative, it's just the worse idea they didn't even bother exploring because there was simply a better one. But reminding them means they thought about it. Since Ni users' brain runs on intuition, the mind is very active so sometimes you just intuitively get an idea, you don't directly intellectualize it. That allows to rank ideas pretty quickly and efficiently. So when someone will bring it to the table, it will naturally sound familiar. Usually when Ni users don't think about an idea it's because it wasn't particularly relevant or it can be because they miss some sensory informations. Well Ni users are just as indecisive when stressed and methodical if you know them well. That's pretty much like you said for Ni, just like Si except they don't disregard ideas actually. They narrow things down the same way and do realize the alternatives but unconsciously, which is the weird part. Ni is internal which means Ni users' mind is intuitive so they somehow have more awareness about their own subconscious. This is what produces the "I know but I don't know how I know it and can't explain it" from Ni doms particularly. That's how they can know which idea is the best without being able to explain you exactly how because they've already considered most ideas subconsciously and provided the one that is the most likely to be successful out of it. It's automatically running in the background. So that's quite correct except you couldn't guess how to interpret some things you've observed because you didn't have the particular Ni mindset in mind to get the reasons behind certain behaviors and what actually happens in the mind so no big deal.

It's not like I'm doubting you but I need to confirm. I get my information from mistype investigator and Lijo KZfaq channel. Most KZfaq channels including this one, overly generalize the function and never really explain it well. Ne is often portray as "Afraid of commitment" "Ideas but not practical" "Highly indecisive" "Loud and talk nonsense too much" while it relates more to person's mental health than Ne. Isn't it knowing something subconsciously also related to Ne? I also know something consciously without proper thinking or factual proof and I struggle to find it to prove my point. I think it maybe related to individualsl's intelligence or experience rather than Ni or I'm just weird. Si is also internal and they have Ne which is more likely to consider alternative when focusing on single idea. Ni is originate from the unconscious, while Si is from conscious. It doesn't make sense Ni reduce the methods consciously since it's more abstract and Se is not about ideas and possibilities. Then again, I might be wrong since Ni is the function I understand the least.

Se collects observations for the ni

Everyone forgets the dynamic that exists between Ni and Se and Ne and Si that allows both to function properly because intuition doesn't come from nowhere, in fact, it is very related to it. Abstraction is the other side of reality, the potential that doesn't have a physical form. As an INFJ I can assure you I never use Ne, I just observe my surroundings with Se. That's even why INxJs are notoriously known for staring at people unconsciously. They just collect data. Then Ni comes up with the ideas based on the sensory world itself. If someone with Ni starts using Ne, it's either because they're mature enough to use this shadow function consciously or because they're unhealthy and start not prioritizing any possibility with probabilities among the others and they won't have Si to regulate their attention to every idea in their case. So they won't be functional. Ni plays the role of Si for ENxPs but by being their intuition function as well, which is why Ni is like the complement. Then Se is more all over the place and broad like Ne is but in a sensory way and likes experiencing everything.

It could really mean you do because when you're stressed out you're unhealthy so you start using the unconscious side of your intuition, your shadow intuitive function a.k.a Ni. So this is perfectly normal but means you're not in a good state of mind.
