EYE OF THE STORM is a series documenting the behind the scenes of Kanoa Igarashi's life on the World Championship Tour.
Chasing dreams, moments, and memories, this is what Kanoa is up to during the year.
Episode 1 - A Fresh Start sees Kanoa back in Hawaii for the first stop of the World Tour, where it all starts and the year begins, a good result is important, but is what happens behind the scenes that really matters.
In between media days, grocery shopping and full access to Kanoa's house, ep. 1 takes you as close as you can to being in Kanoa's corner for the first event of the season!

EPIC! Such a weapon. Great attitude, forgetting the past, learning from it, and powering forward with a positive frame of mind. In my opinion competitive surfing is 25% physical skill and 50% mental endurance. 25% is lost in luck and in the hands of mother nature. BRUTAL

Amazing video! It's so great that you share your love for the ocean. Surfing is such an amazing water activity and it's lovely to see you enjoy it, keep going with these great videos. If it doesn't bother you, I'd like to give you a suggestion, a tip for the next videos: Basically, you could try inserting some comic and funny stuff... to give everyone a pinch of humor that, in the world of surf, can never be missing. Now, I don't think much of it, but the first thing I could think of in your sport might be peeing in the water. Once, my uncle, who is a scuba diver, peed in his wetsuit during a long diving session and that moment was absolutely funny, he even wrote "I’m peeing" on a waterproof notebook during the session. He has always been telling me that there are 2 types of divers and swimmers: those who pee in the water and those who lie. I know it may sound strange as a request but, in my opinion, these are moments of happiness and carefree that always make everyone smile, that's why it'd be hilarious if you included lots of moments like this, if you and your surfing mates want of course. I hope you like the idea and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Seriously, does anyone actually cares about what goes on in the water, during the heats? It doesn't look like the WSL cares. I have just rewatched Kanoa heats and the presenters (Joe and Shane Dorian) keep talking OVER the action about whatever NONSENSE that is NOT RELATED to the heats, Kanoa's waves don't get any attention from anyone (this happens to several competitors), there are no proper replays etc. And now I come here, for the first time, on KANOA'S KZfaq CHANNEL, and I expect to have much more than the WSL nonsense, but what is the impression I get? That Kanoa also does not care about what goes on in the water during the heats! Obviously that I know that Kanoa CARES, but why on earth there is like 10 seconds of action and nothing else? I was expecting to have Kanoa (and maybe Jake) commenting on his performance, heat strategy, what he tried to do, what he was able to do, what worked, what didn't work, you know, SPORT TALK? But there is NOTHING. It gets really hard to follow a sport where no one seems to care about what happens in said sport.
