I've worked with thousands of patients... the idea of gender roles, as far as women not being "aggressive"? This was hardly aggressive. If you somehow believe in some conditioned way women "should" be as created by men...you've had your views conditioned into you. To keep women meek and quiet is ridiculous and goes against neurobiology. It leads to depression, anxiety, autoimmune diseases (all which are more prevalent in women). When you turn against your own body, self betrayal, by not asserting yourself, it turns on you. There are matriarchal societies you know, where the women are in charge, make the decisions, are very respected. Do some anthropology research as well. Assertiveness is not aggressiveness. Women absolutely need to learn to be assertive. Otherwise they are betraying themselves and letting others dictate their lives...and they suffer for it. Calling out disrespect is not aggressive. Inquire deeply into why you believe as you do. Introspection and metacognition are good starting places.
