Out of all the fighter planes in history whether it be a P-47 Thunderbolt or a P-51 Mustang or an F4U Corsair the most beautiful and the most deadly here we are almost 40 years later and in a dog fight nothing can compare to the F-16 hands down the best!

Even when stopped that thing looks like it is moving, what a beautiful aircraft.
@egooidios50612 ай бұрын
it is moving. Even slightly but its moving. if you ever get to see one up close while its powered up, take a look at its control surfaces. A slight trickle will be seen, as the lfight control system provides constant adjustments of positions. Heck, even in this video, pay attention to the elevator at 01:04 mark, as the pilot brakes to stop the aircraft. It causes the nose gear absorber to compress, and the aircraft to sense a pitch down movement which for the FCS system is un commanded, so it uses the elevators to compensate. These movements never stop, and when up close the whole aircraft feels like a living being, trickling and shivering

I was blessed enough to witness a flight test at Edwards AFB where they had a F-16 and F-22 do this same maneuver back to back. I can say without exaggerating that the F-22 capability to climb after takeoff made the F-16 look like a propeller plane from WW1. It was anime type stuff like where the big tough guy is effortlessly beaten by the new boss. The difference in capabilities was cartoonish.
@harris97846 ай бұрын
C'mon man! WW1 ? Raptor is cool and all, but the Viper is no slouch! Both jets have climb rate of 50k feet a minute if pushed. Think you're overly dramatic friend.

@@harris9784agreed, f22 has a more advanced avionics package and stealth of course but in maneuverability alone….in a dogfight…they’re equals
@fromnorway64320 күн бұрын
It's the *_thrust/weight ratio_* that matters most for a fighter's climb capability, and that's almost the same for an F-15, F-16 and F-22 if all are similarly loaded.

How much fuel does an afterburner use
@buzzlightyear2490Ай бұрын
That take off and vertical hit $ in fuel just over $3200 dallors. Hard to believe but look it up, F-35 4 plus F-22 the same, on a fligth carriers, saving fuel is everything, plus such a short run way, hint cable runners. $500 for F-18 on a super carrier

The F-16 has almost 3200 kg of fuel and in full afterburner it is gone in about 8 to 9 minutes🚀😊pending on height and speed.Not using the AB let if fly for more than an hour.
@buzzlightyear2490Ай бұрын
@jbeukers-aviation1879 the thing gets me is on those aircraft carriers, the amount of fuel to keep them hit it on a daily basis, I don't know how many litters those aircraft carriers store on board, I know they are nuke reactors as main fuel driver those aircraft carriers, but stuff me, they are a floating city really
@fromnorway64320 күн бұрын
With an F100-PW-229 engine Max thrust with afterburner: 129.7 kN (near sea level) Specific fuel consumption with full afterburner: 197.8 kg/kN/h Total fuel consumption with full afterburner: 129.7 x 197.8 = 25,654.66 kg/h = *7.126 kg/sec* ≈ *8.9 litres/sec*
